Gusev is an interesting name for sure. Vegas' top-six is set for the most part with Patches/Stastny/Stone and Smith/Bill/JAM. That's not even including Tuch. Is Gusev committed to playing in North America next year?

The interesting thing is that he joined Vegas for the playoffs last year, thus burning his 1 year ELC, but they were out of the playoffs before he played a game. No one really knows what he can do in the NHL. He could be another Panarin, another Dadonov, or another Shipachyov. My guess is he'll be closer to Dadonov than Shipachyov, but the uncertainty will hopefully keep the price down a bit.

I mentioned the Timmonen trade between Nashville and Philly. The flyers got a couple of 1sts for Forsberg and flipped one back for Timmonen over the summer. I thought that could be a blue print here. But I never once imagined Pionk would be the other piece.

I shied away from a trouba deal because of the cost but you can't say no to that price.
