Yep and @bobbop has been mentioning Vegas for a while now. Likely to help them shed some cap. Dallas is the one that's a little off the radar. Maybe some talks to see if the Rangers could adjust the picks if they re-up Zucc.

I wonder if Dallas would prefer to give up this year’s 1st instead of next year’s.

I wouldn't renegotiate anything with Dallas. Considering they are talking to Zuccarello and how well he played for them they have interest in bringing him back. I'm not giving something back to them or adding conditions.

Interesting, but I'm not a fan of losing 4 1st rounders. Let Marner sign there and pick on Kapanen or Johnsson

I'm thinking exactly that. Plus, as good as the 2020 draft looks to be, I could definitely see the Rangers putting a lot of value on having that 3rd 1st this year and getting a kid who is 12 months ahead of whoever they'd draft in 2020.

The allure of a bad Dallas season and a second lottery pick is tough to shake, but sometimes it's better to deal in absolutes.

I think I would rather have next years #1 from them. Another really good draft and we know it’s hard for teams to be as successful in back to back playoffs.

Let’s say not only do the Rangers get Dallas’ 1st this year, but also are able to extract Vegas’ 1st by taking on a big contract or two for cap relief, that’s an awful lot of ammo to ‘go big’ in this 1st round, and not only come away with Kakko, but one of the centers they like, too.

Late to the party on this but super thrilled that EK is off the market.

That's a deal all about SJS winning it all one of the next 3 seasons. They'll swallow the bad part during their rebuild. Not ideal, but makes much more sense for them than for us.

Now if only they had a real goaltender.

I didn’t want EK either, but just for the record, I would be surprised if he didn’t keep putting up a ton of pts for a long time. But of course there are risks involved.

Or hehe, I would want EK in a parallel universe just to figure out what the heck Gorts plan for the team would have been with all tiny RHS Ds... Because that don’t quite make sense to me.

But, this year’s 1st is a known quantity. There’s definitely a gamble that having Zuccarello all year makes Dallas a stronger team next year.

You’re right. I didn’t realize they were picking 18th. Yeah, I would hope for this years #1

Friedman had Zuccarello and Dallas working on a deal in his 31 thoughts column.

I am becoming real defeatistic with these conditions. Are none of them going to pan out? Can’t he just resign there already??

That'd be pretty bonkers. Still not sure I can see Vegas giving up their 1st outright to shed cap, but you never know. GMGM seems to be willing to pursue a lot of different avenues and they're in a very tough spot. The Rangers could almost solve all of their cap issues with one trade. Not many teams can say the same. Additionally, they could flip a few guys like Eakins, Haula, or Miller while taking back money from whatever team they were dealing with. That's not something Vegas can really do at this point.

They have both Wild Bill and Gusev to get under contract. Gorton spoke about going over the cap in the summer. He could use the summer to facilitate those types of people trades.

Looking forward to watching Kravtsov on the PP with Zib. The saucer passes between Kravtsov playing with Denisenko were special. Maybe we need a RHS like Panarin to pair with Kakko even though the contract could be ugly.

There's no way that I'm buying that the Rangers were all in on Karlsson. Don't believe it at all.

Nor do I believe the Rangers have any intention of giving out an offer sheet, to Marner or anyone else.

With Vegas, I think we're after Gusev. Gusev and Clarkson, maybe.

Agree. These offer sheets musings are thrown around all the time and never happen and always have to involve the Rangers given their pre-cap history. It's fiction.

Yeah I guess it comes down to how many teams are involved for those names. Miller, Eakins, and Haula aren't exactly scrubs. I think Vegas will have buyers that don't require them to surrender so much.

There are other RHS in this league.

Gusev is an interesting name for sure. Vegas' top-six is set for the most part with Patches/Stastny/Stone and Smith/Bill/JAM. That's not even including Tuch. Is Gusev committed to playing in North America next year?

Why wouldn't he be?
