Speculation: Roster building thread XLIX ”U Can’t Always get what U Want”

Hawks are looking to get younger and in this case they are mostly a wash cap wise for this coming season (Nam at 4M vs AA at 4.55M) with AA having that extra year while Nam is UFA next summer

Nothing the Rangers have done, or might be about to do, strikes me as being about 19-20. 20-21, maybe. Aside from the thing about mentoring Russians, which I think they're fine on anyway, I don't know how AA helps much with that.

Lets keep it going. Have to keep the motivation to actually work at a minimum....

What about Colorado, they may feel it is time to take the next step and they do not have much under contract for this year up front. Would Kreider and Buch get you #4OA and if not, what would the add be? If the NYR truly have their sights on Zegras, they may have to get that high to snag him....

Names can also mentor Russians, so that point is just moot. We also have Buchnevich and Georgiev who have both had decent experience in the league now. I just don't think it's an issue we need to be concerned about.

I also never understood why people make such a big deal about Russians adapting versus other countries. Like why aren't we focused on getting some Czech guys in here for Chytil? Or how about Finnish for KK?

I think this is one of those added values that fans tend to over-value and organizations just see as a bonus if they're already interested in a player. But they hardly make moves based on that assumption.

And in this situation, where we're trading one veteran Russian for another veteran Russian, literally adds nothing.

Well, look... culturally speaking Russia is a different place than the rest of Europe, so I get why people might think this way. I agree though, the need for it is overstated.

It's less what he's eating and more what he's not doing ie burning 10000 calories a day playing hockey. Man you see a lot of athletes plump up after their playing days.

I don't think you'll have to assume as Edge said he'd let us know at that point regarding the outline of trades that were discussed by the teams.
 
Man I hope we don’t dump assets on a guy like Nylander. Would much prefer to wait and see what happens with bread man. Much better player and doesn’t cost us assets.

Those overnight outbursts by people so angry @Edge were really embarrassing, but not at all surprisingly. Watching people try to discredit and attack every media member when they report something the posters don't wanna hear or something that doesn't come to fruition, and this was always coming. Friedman's a hero when it's something people wanna hear, and a moron when it's not. Everyone loves Bob MacKenzie - oh well you haven't seen him say the Rangers had been interested in a player RB doesn't want yet.

Not to mention the NHL awards were last night. Trades were never getting announced anyway.

You think they were going to interrupt the trailer showing you can customize your player with 2,000 new apparel options in EA's NHL20 to announce a trade? Come on
