Not Ranger related, but Nashville is looking to turnover a good portion of their roster.
Subban and Turris have been out there, as are Bonino & Smith.
There is good interest on Bonino. Teams are looking at the St.Louis model.
STL acquired all of their centers through trade or free agency after not having any center depth. They drafted poorly and never developed that position well enough to contend.
ROR- Cost a 1st and a recent 1st round pick.
Schenn- Cost 2 1sts
Bozak- Free agent
Sundqvist-Trade with a 1st
This is why I'm very OK with Duchene. Zibanejad is on a steal contract, so Duchene getting paid isn't terrible because the combined salaries of our top two centers would still be on par with what other teams in the East are paying their top two centers. Duchene had 10 points in 10 playoff games with hard-nosed Torts as head coach in Columbus. That marriage could have been a disaster, and it was very beneficial to them. Duchene has matured to the point I wouldn't have any long-term qualms about him.
Shed some salary by trading Vesey and one of Strome/Namestnikov, buy out or attach an asset to shed salary with Smith, extend Kreider (if it's a fair deal for both sides). Play Chytil on the wing. Sign Duchene, stick him between Lias/Chytil and Kakko/Kravtsov. Hope you can fit Buch; if you can't, explore a trade option that flips him.
Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko/Buchnevich
Chytil - Duchene - Kakko/Kravtsov
Lias/Strome - Lias/Strome - Kravtsov/Buchnevich
Lemieux - Howden - Fast
Nieves/Lettieri
Skjei - Trouba
Hajek - Shattenkirk/ADA
Staal - ADA/Fox
Claesson/Vet 6/7 UFA signing

Some variance of that lineup, I believe, would be under the salary cap. I also think that is a super competitive team next year despite all the young players. Third line is definitely a bit of a question, but there is a lot of potential there.
