It will be a nightmare if we don't land Eichel and instead sign and overpay for more Goodrow's. Hopefully he clocks in at $1-2M otherwise we're hurting ourself

If you still haven't figured it out, you need guys to win in the trenches to let the Panarin, Ziba, Laf's of the team to use their skill.

I don't think anyone expects opening night to be the same roster plus goodrow.

I'm not expecting too much more, a LHD maybe another scrappy bottom 6 guy. Our adds will be Lundkvist, Jones, Barron, full year of Kravtsov, a year older Lafreniere, Kakko and Chytil. We would seriously have to move some guys to find space on this team and unless Buch is moved there's absolutely no room on either wing for anyone.

To be fair, it might be for 750K , but we shouldn't even be in a predicament to need to save money like that this year so

Looking around the league, I think there was one pending UFA protected. Landeskog was never going to be protected.

Ovechkin is a much greater risk (contract-wise) at 35+ then Landeskog @ 28. Somebody will overpay for Landeskog - not sure that's the case with Ovechkin (who has repeatedly said he's not going anywhere and will retire a Capital).

I'm going to miss Strome's interviews, but this seems like the correct move. I wanted to move him to RW but there's just no way that happens.

Glad there's more interest in him now than last offseason.

FWIW, the other prospects talked about for McD are all unprotected. Foote, Raddysh & Katchouk. Point & Serg were never getting moved.
