did Francis draft Gauthier while in Carolina? I would not have protected him but would suck to lose him without knowing if he is a player
Yeah, but a way, way worse coach.Seattle is gonna have a better roster than Vegas did the way this one is shaking out lol
Yeah but we could've moved Gauthier for something. Rooney is barely an effective 4th liner. You shouldn't protect players like him
Yeah and I guess absolute worst case scenario, if we did lose him...we basically just paid a 7th round pick to keep Blackwell & Gauts. That's a good deal too.THE KINGS ARE PROTECTING LIAS!!!!
It's not scary because the Rangers have something ironed out most likely which will be announced post expansion draft. Francis isn't blowing a pick on a guy who they aren't going to be able to keep.
If they were worried about it, they would have used a slot on him.
I would be amused to see how a guy like ADA would fair in Seattle. And I'm not talking about from a hockey perspectiveFrankly if I’m Seattle I take DeAngelo. You can get away from that in a year if it’s a problem.
uh no.We better be making a big move to shock the league this week.
It will be a nightmare if we don't land Eichel and instead sign and overpay for more Goodrow's. Hopefully he clocks in at $1-2M otherwise we're hurting ourself

In the end, I’m guessing they just feel Gauthier isn’t going to get the minutes here to progress so why bother a chance at losing Rooney. It answers my question about who the 4th line C will be now to start next season. The rangers are still 1-2 trades from a finished roster product. But so far I see thisRooney was very effective last year and knows his role
I wanted to keep the younger players too but Drury wants guys in certain roles
No surprise there. They really liked him down the stretch.THE KINGS ARE PROTECTING LIAS!!!!
I don't think anyone expects opening night to be the same roster plus goodrow.

I get that. But Rooney is so easy to replace. I would've gotten this if Rooney was on Goodrow's level.Rooney was very effective last year and knows his role

Definitely not Appleton. Not even a 5th rounder or maybe Appleton.
Ufa doesn’t count. Is there a reason that Goodrow isnt on that list?
He was effective but he played pretty bad as the season went on. And he hasn't been that good during his NHL career. He’s an effective 4th liner, not barely.
Which clearly Drury and Gallant value that more over the mystery box that is Gauthier![]()

Not happening.Frankly if I’m Seattle I take DeAngelo. You can get away from that in a year if it’s a problem.

I have to agree. I like Rooney, and he was solid for us, but he had a career year because Quinn over used him. I would have kept Gauthier based off boom/bust talent. It’s a coin flip whether they picked Blackwell or Rooney IMO.
It’s not a huge loss, but personally I would have went the other way and protected Gauthier
