100%. Rare dumb move by Sakic. Landeskog is a building block player. I throw 7 years and $9 million at him and offer him the C off the bat if I'm Seattle.
Maybe he really felt that he was not going to be able to sign him. Or felt like even if he's selected that he'd have another shot to talk next week.

I would assume some of these teams have deals in place with Seattle based on the names being exposed

So either way Seattle is getting good players or good future assets

All the sizzle is the available forwards. The defensemen available aren't great. If I'm Seattle, I'd pick BPA and see if they can side-deal/offload excess for defense after this Entry Draft.

Rooney over Gauthier is interesting. Its gotta be a 50/50 for Gauthier or Blackwell right? Unless Seattle is really hurting for dmen and take a chance on ADA?

Once again, it needs to be said: Reaves doesn't do anything well. At all. He is below replacement player level.

Please stop trying to will him onto the team.
Like it or not Reaves or someone like him will be on the opening night roster. That’s in addition to Goodrow and probably another with grit that has some ability.

Landeskog exposure tells you there's not a negotiable difference in their contract talks and more like a chasm. He's a nice player, but he's not a guy I throw 8-9M and term at.
I wouldnt if I'm the Avs or Rangers, but Seattle absolutely should throw that kind of contract at him. They look like they could make the playoffs with some of the options they have.

I still don't think Landeskog is going anywhere. Now his agent will just have another counteroffer/leverage against COL.

Before the contract impasse, Landeskog wasn't going to be signed before the Seattle entry draft anyway, having a wink-wink agreement giving COL another protection slot.
