Andrew Ladd whole contract was moved with term remaining. I’m pretty sure the last 2 years of this can be if needed
Going based off the rumors of other teams willing to offer 6 years, I’m guessing he had no choice. Can I ask why Drury thinks signing this guy for 6 years is a good idea? I mean listen I love Tanev but Goodrow is not Tanev. Or is he?
Ah well, at least we got a cup winner on this roster
I would've much rather had Maroon/Coleman/Killorn or Gourde at those cap hits than Goodrow. I wonder why Drury fell in love with Barclay and not someone else
His agent played hardball, someone might have gave him more or an extra year. Whatever the tactic was, it worked because Drury did not want him going to Free agency. He'll get some level of protection for the duration.
That's what Tanev has. Hes got a 10 team no go list for all 6 years but the deal is evenly structured (1 SB, 2.5 Salary) for all 6 years.
If the deal is front loaded, all the more reason it should be below 3.6. Money now is worth more than money years from now.
f***ing stupid. Only thing I can think of is Goodrow will be the 3rd line center, and Fast wasn't so that's their thinking. But man this is so dumb.Sure glad we didn't give Jesper Fast a 3rd year at 2 million since he "Didn't fit the window"

It's the only way it makes a modicum of sense. With these numbers you gotta hope the plan is to play him as the 3rd line matchup center.
That better be the case. Because if this number is true we have 10 million tied up to two 3rd line wingers, and another 8 million to a 2nd pair defensman. You start multiplying these "it's a slight overpay" contracts and suddenly you are screwed when you are up to the cap and a guy like Laf wants that 8x9 million after two great seasons. And then you can only bridge him because your cap is tied to these complementary players. It's really not that bad, expecially if he has a limited or no NTC/NMC.
Maroon wants to play close to home or in Tampa, Killorn makes more NTC for entirety of contract, Coleman will make more and receive a similar deal to Killorn to go home and play for Dallas. NY isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Especially during Covid timesI would've much rather had Maroon/Coleman/Killorn or Gourde at those cap hits than Goodrow. if i could like this twice i wouldEh I think people are getting their panties in a bunch. This is a guy who just won back to back Stanley cups. Who on our team knows what it takes to win? This is a guy who will lead by example and get everybody else to buy in. That’s why there is a premium on this player.
is it the best? No. Is it the worst ? Far from it.
so let’s get our panties untwisted and move on

by the time laff is up for a 8 or 9 million dollar contract the cap will have risen....right now its 4.4 % of the total cap, hopefully in 3 years the cap will rise and then we are talking about 2 or 3 %That better be the case. This guy gets it. Everyone take a breath. The good news is Kreider and Trouba will both be moved before the end of their deals too. It’s part of the business. Likely me reaching as I am prone to do but feel like that Goodrow contract somehow makes the odds of Eichel increase...purely for what it says about where mgmt is. Very much a "he helps us now, we'll handle the future in the future"...dare I say a "lion" like move.
He will.Don't like the contract terms for Goodrow. $3.6 million wouldn't be great but ok if the term was shorter. For 6 years? Woof. He better not get trade protection on top of it.
How about you don't tell me what to do with my pantiesEh I think people are getting their panties in a bunch. This is a guy who just won back to back Stanley cups.
