100% I hate the idea of Eichel coming here, giving up the farm and finding out his neck injury is chronic and he'll never be the same player or play a full 82 games a season. Too many risks right now for what Eichel will cost.

I would much rather get a guy like Dvorak, Monahan or anybody that will cost less but still be a suitable top 6 center.

It'd be different if Buffalo was allowing him to get the surgery, or at least allowing teams to see the medical records. But they're not. They're doing neither of these things. This suggests to me that this injury has a high chance of being chronic, & career-affecting.

It's laughable to think we should overpay for that.

Monahan is the one name where I'd definitely rather see Confirmed with Link - Very Funny Eichel Trade, or Confirmed with Link - Seven Years of Ryan Strome than that.

I don't think the Flames or the league think he's a reclamation project yet, they still think he's a star?

Kravtsov being able to play center solves like, every problem. Not kidding.

I was thinking that too. But if he's not better at faceoffs than Chytil, I feel like there's no point. I would say, Krav and Chytil probably have similar ceilings at C. While Krav might have higher ceiling on the wing. But really, Chytil would probably all ready be our 2C if he could take faceoffs.

Hayes played center almost his entire Rangers career after being a wing in college.

MSL played center a few games and it was atrocious

So then technically it has happened once where a player played wing until the NHL and became a center, so it should be no problem for it to happen again? :sarcasm:

Dvorak is not someone I'm keen to unload choice assets for. I understand that's what it would take but I'm not paying it.
Say Ottawa trades us 10OA for strome+ 15.
Would you do 10OA for Dvorak? Or 10 plus jones?cause if they are looking to unload salary by any means necessary I think they bite on a top 10 pick

If healthy he kinda is, though.

In 6 seasons, he's only played more than 68 games twice. His rookie year with 81 and then 77 a few years later. So add that to a player who now has a serious neck/spine injury, which are SO often chronic and I would say there is a lot to worry about. He wasn't the model of health prior to this.

Dvorak is a good middle six center and on a good contract but you would think he's Sidney Crosby with these proposals.

Let's tone it down a bit

1. We only gave up a 7th for Goodrow's rights. A signed Goodrow is worth at least what has been proposed for Tanev.
2. Obtaining Goodrow's rights is not a guarantee he signs with us.
3. There is room for both players on the roster. We need more than 1 player that brings what Goodrow does on a game-by-game basis.

Yes I understand the 7th was for his rights. Im also assuming that they are going to sign him to deal north of 3.25 million so in essence they got their guy after giving up only a 7th. They are not going to sign another bottom 6 guy to an expensive long term contract.

It's getting bad in here.

Let's see what the Goodrow contract is first. If it's 4 mil AAV and Drury basically bid against himself, it will be how first mistake in the chair.

This is such a different tier of trade that they shouldn't even be compared. The team with a healthy Eichel is increidlby different than with a Monahan, Dvorak, etc. I totally understand people not wanting to trade a shitload for Eichel and being wary of the neck injury. But holy hell is he severely underrated here. When healthy, this guy is an elite, game-breaking center.

Is he though? Or does he just put up stats. In 6 seasons, he never "broke" the game for the Sabres to get them into the playoffs. I seriously don't see him on the same level as guys like McDavid, McKinnon or even Aho. And it's not because he doesn't put up stats. But I fear he may be a bit like Tavares . Empty stats. At least, not having that extra drive and gear to actually carry a team on his back in terms of wins. And I don't think it's wise to pay top dollar for a player who can't do that. Even if they do get 90 points an 82 game season. At least, I don't think Eichel has proved yet that he can be that player.

Similarly, I don't think I would want Tavares unless it was at a discount.

Points are great but winning is the goal. Look at Barzal. The guy sacrifices his own game sometimes to drag that team to wins. He could probably be scoring 90 points a season too, but then they might not be winning as much. And you say, how can they win less if their 1C scored more points? There's a lot of ice a winning center needs to cover. And it doesn't always put him in a position to score. I think in Barzal's case, it also has to do with the linemates he has. If they were better, he'd get more points too. But either way, Eichel..... meh.

Nothing that Drury does will surprise me when it comes to the center position from the top (Eichel) to Chytil as 2C to a trade for someone else. Anything they do is going to be a risk.

You are correct, yet there was some movement there, and if this link is correct, apparently he was a natural wing before the Rangers moved him to center.

New York Rangers: Should Kevin Hayes Play Wing or Center?
I think he played his first two years in college at center and the last two at wing. He played on Eric Staal's wing after that trade. People will tell you Staal played on his wing, but that is A LIE. He played wing quite a bit during the 2015 playoffs too.

Yes people VASTLY underrate Eichel here. McDavid hasn’t won, Tavares hasn’t won, Draisitil hasn’t won, Mackinnon hasn’t won. If the criteria is “winners” you better hope for Crosby, Toews, Stamkos or Point

I get the neck injury concern but acting like 78P in 68 games isn’t “elite” is hogwash
