Sorry, I’m playing catch up here…someone help me out.

Where is this 4M number for Goodrow coming from?
Carp was talking about a 5x4.5 deal earlier today, and now Vince is talking about a 5 or 6 year deal with a $4M AAV

Truly a bad signing if I've ever seen one (and it's the Rangers, so we've seen plenty of bad signings)

Thanks. I hope it’s just posturing by Goodrows agents.

If he wants his 6 years, the number can’t be above 3.5.

I’m not doing that. Would be the same as the Stepan trade. This is a 9 player draft, so I do not want the 10 pick. Not Ottawa’s fault, but I’m not falling for that again

Suzuki and Necas went 12th and 13th in that draft. If the Rangers had taken either player 7th overall, the Rangers would be in much better shape right now. There was nothing wrong with the players in the draft or the Stepan trade. The Rangers took the wrong player. Blame Rangers management. I remember Edge saying the Rangers really liked Suzuki that draft year.

Also really wanted Yamamoto at #21 that year but thankfully Chytil ended up being a hit

I'm sure his camp wants that.... what merits are they standing on in negotiations?

Let him hit the free market if that's the case. No team will offer him anything close to that.

I’d bet some would insanely enough, abs that’s probabaly what he’d stand on in demanding it

Looks like TB went 4-4-1.. Gourde or Palat available.

someone tell Drury to tell Francis to pick Gourde and trade him to us with 50% retained for 15 and a a good defensive prospect

Got pretty excited reading this proposal.

Goodrow-Gourde-X is a great start to get a great energy/character line. Kakko could be a pretty sick third guy on that line.

Please, explain to me how this is worth $4M.

Really wish we kept Fast.

Let's put some of these beat writers comments into perspective. The Drury front office hasn't leaked anything. No one had any info on the deals that were made or who would be protected. Vince's comments early on Saturday were the same as half the poster in here, that the Rangers would look to move Howden and/or Hajek while possibly upgrading the last F and/or D protection spots.

What do you do if your a beat writer and your teams front office won't release anything? Reach out to the agent for the player that was just acquired who will be a UFA. Ofcourse the agent is going to pump his clients tires and say a number like that. It's likely their starting point.

The deal will either be a shorter deal with a bit more cap hit (still not $4MM AAV) or longer at a lower cap hit.

The Rangers need an identity makeover and Goodrow would go a ways towards doing that. We’re too soft of a team and if to change that means Strome or Buch get moved then we should pay that price. Personally I would very much like to keep Buch but we’re not going to be trading him away without getting something back.

As for what Goodrow would get to sign a deal with us it’s one f***ing contract. If he gets six years and starts to fade after four we can buy him the f*** out and buying a $3.5 or $4 mil a year contract out is not the greatest thing in the world but it’s not the f***ing end of the world either.

So why would Goodrow get paid more than other 3rd liners? Maybe because he’s hard to play against and you can count on his consistency. Maybe because he’s been very much part of a team that’s won twice.

Again players like him can change the identity of a team and ours needs changing. Also soft teams never win anything.

4 for goodrow is absurd.

3.5 isn’t good either. Especially in the cap world. I’m all for signing him and I’m assuming they’ve already got something agreed upon, but there no need to go crazy just to change the culture. We can do that for cheaper.

If Goodrow turned into Sam Bennett in the playoffs, I'd be willing to pay more.

Another dropped ball by Gorton. The exact player we needed.

Right. They gave up a 7th for his rights.

They can just walk away.

If he wants security/protection, he's getting a Sissons deal. 6 years 2.5-3M
