Speculation: Roster Building Thread XII

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I agree. I like Chytil. But if the goal is to make the playoffs, handing him the keys to the second line would be pretty reckless. I would also not understand the point of trading Strome just to go shopping for another 2C in free agency. Why not stick with what you know works?

Because it has not worked. Sorry but we need an upgrade at center. Not sure what people saw this past year but center is a big need. Agree on FC. Not a number 2 center and I doubt they would be reckless enough to go into the season with him as a number 2. My gut is they would trade Strome and acquire either a 1 or 2 center.

Good player offensive player, just not a fit on a contending team or in a two way system under Gallant. Lots of teams not quite ready to take the next step should look at him.

Probably isn’t the best for play-by-plays or perfect tweets, but I think her reporting is fine.

Actually, Chytil was very good last year at ES with zero PP time.

The only thing he can't do is win a faceoff, but he's capable of being the 2c and get some PP time.

Because it’s wise to sell high on a player you don’t intend on keeping long term.

we have an in house replacement already. Getting a player to play behind Chytil should and probably is the play here.

Gauthier is just a modern Marcel Hossa without the nice shootout moves

With how they played last year, it’s all but a certainty he resigns with the panthers at the first possible time he can. If he was going to UFA, I’m sure the rangers would move heaven and earth to make him their 1C
 
I see Chytil as having a similar skill set as Rick Nash, and I see him having Nash-like success on the powerplay. That is to say very little success on PP2 as the net front guy.
 
Given that we extended Howden and Gauthier in the same window and roughly along the same lines, likely that there were some talks around moving him in a deal similar to Howden’s, just for worse than a 4th and we didn’t pull the trigger.

I'm sorry but Chytil isn't a player to lean on here going forward.

In fact if we don't address the C issue, rolling Zib-Chytil-Goodrow is what's gonna put us further out from a playoff spot than even last season

Strickland says Ottawa among the "teams". so its not just Ottawa who is interested. Will be interesting to see what teams are interested since he can play center and even wing.

okay lol.

I guess you missed the part where I said they need to get someone else. Not run with Zib-Chytil-Goodrow. That someone could be gourde, Larkin, lindholm, Danault, etc. it doesn’t have to be a huge name, we have those already.

Eichel isn’t the answer. Never has been.
