This org is a joke - rebuild (if you can even call it that) has completely flopped. We are literally in the same place when the letter came out. Good but just not good enough with overpaid vets, and no gamebreaking youth. Now theyre going to hire Laviolette?! its laugh out loud funny at this point
Aside from small changes I would make lineup wise, this is far to reasonable to happen. This team will do something stupid. But here's to hoping.Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kakko
Othmann-Chytil-Panarin
Kreider-Trocheck-Cuylle
Vesey-Goodrow-Motte
Brodzinski
Miller-Fox
Jones/Robertson-Trouba
Lindgren-Schneider
Harpur
Igor
Halak
No outside hires. No one playing with their BFFs. Spread the ice time and add small pieces at the deadline where needed. Thats what I'd like to see.

NO it does matter
You need to max your deals as best as possible
Was Geo late the best return?
Our should we have dealt him to EDM or TOR long ago for a much better return?
Geo at this pt = opportunity cost from not being smart earlier
before I call it a day, would like to ask @Leonardo87 to assess various scenarios for Panarin to ANA.
Bread MIGHT go since he has chem w/Strome
Obv we'd be looking for cap relief more than assets...
Goodrow is a cap casualty no matter what I think. Motte may be back. Vesey like it or not is going to be in the top 9. Othmann is going to need to cook a little in Hartford before being spoon fed top 6 minutes from the get go, but I expect him to have a spot locked up by the deadline on merit. Don't think Robertson is ready. Put Lindgren with Trouba and let Jones and Schneider play together. You can always play Miller 26 minutes a game and have him tag in for Jones a bit when the latter is struggling.Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kakko

There's a difference between being extreme and not liking the direction the team is going in. The concern is warranted when the rumored coaching change is making it seem like it was a change just for the sake of making a change with little thought to what the problems are and going about fixing them. The Stanley Cup Final hasn't even started yet and the melodrama on this board is reaching some of the peaks I've seen around here in a while.
Everyone should try and relax. A team that had <20% chance of making the playoffs with 1 game left in their regular season is now i the Final after beating the best team the league has seen in decades and dominating two of the other top 5 teams in the league this season. Whining about every little tiny thing before we even know much of what next season's team will even look like is such a waste of time. So is complaining about someone like Blais who sucked butt here or complain about a coach who hasn't even been hired yet let alone had a single second with the team is so dumb. And some of the posting around Drury you'd think he kicked some of your dogs or something.
I know it's the offseason but jeez, does every point being made need to be so extreme?
It takes two to tangle. That's like saying we should have traded Zibanejad to Hawks for #1 overall instead of holding onto him for the next several years.NO it does matter

Laviolette convinced ovechkin to switch to his natural side and he had some of his best years ever.It takes two to tangle. That's like saying we should have traded Zibanejad to Hawks for #1 overall instead of holding onto him for the next several years.
If you're the Ducks, why are you acquiring Panarin to play with Strome, when you're going to have so many centers you want to develop and play ahead of Strome in the coming years? Ducks going out to grab Panarin for a 3rd line role with Strome has a very slim chance of happening, regardless if Panarin waives.
I don't see Panarin being put on the right side.

Honestly Pacioretty's career might be overIf you're convincing Panarin to move to the right side, just go sign Pacioretty with the promise to play him with Panarin to a 1-year deal.

Concern is always warranted when a team with high expectation bows out meekly in the playoffs. And the coaching change isnt just for show. Anyone who says "we shouldve just kept Gallant" is ignoring some very obvious issues. The front office AND the players both didnt want him back. They went out and hired a boring coach who has won at every stop he's had, and not under the easiest circumstances.
We are a playoff team next year. If Laviolette can get the players to play an above average game 5v5, which to me would primarily consist of battling harder and getting to and staying in front of the net, we will be a top contender going into next year. This guy isnt the idiot he's being made out to be.
except Lavy is none of those things. Doesn’t develop young talent and leans HEAVILY on the vets. His systems are old and outdated, can’t change with the times, it’s just more of the same dinosaur. He’s hasn’t been a good coach in 5 years.
Wasn't it rumored that Drury was waiting on a team to finish their season before making a decision? Isn't Roy's team still playing?
Personally, I dont think we will hear anything official until Roy has a chance to turn down the job after the Memorial Cup. The team needs the piss and vinegar he brings. I've been wrong plenty before though
Hasnt had a good roster in 5 years maybe. Nashville has been spinning their wheels since he left and just fired Laviolette's replacement. Willfully ignoring the injuries to all of the Caps top players is fine but he was still able to get an old and broken down team to the playoffs up until this year.
