Zucker would be a low-key solid addition and probably won’t cost much
I wouldn't mind trying Panarin and Zibs for an extended look if Zibs goes back to his workhorse days. Zibs and Panarin were much more relentless with Quinn on the forecheck. Hopefully a new staff gets them back.

Panarin Zibs Zucker
Kreider Chytil Kakko
Laffy Trocheck Engvall
Cuylle Blueger/Acciari Vesey

could we even afford this?

Laffy turns into Sam Bennett +
Kakko turns into Mark Stone +
Panarin remembers he can move his legs
Zibs turns into that galloping workhorse
We fix our structure; move and support the puck like a NHL team should

Copium?

Youre on to something here i think. Keller is very much what the team needs in the top 6 at RW. The Rangers have always liked him since his US Junior days. I'm sure a Lafreniere + Lindgren headlined package would interest Arizona. Offload Goodrow elsewhere on top of that (I doubt he'd waive for Arizona) and NYR would have the cap space to do it comfortably. Jones/Robertson knocking on the door mitigates the loss of Lindgren. Having Keller on that deal through his age 29 season is a window extender. Love this idea tbh. The type of deal where I'd have no problem dealing Laf.

Robertson is not knocking on the door yet. He has not even got a cup of coffee with the team. Maybe 1 or 2 more AHL seasons away from getting some NHL games here. Still young but he is not close as some thinks although he will be a solid defensive dman down the road. I would love Keller but doubt he gets moved unless he wants out. If he was on a better team, he’d be one of the premiere faces of the NHL consistently. Solid player.

Any speedsters like Vaerhaghe or Duclair available?

Domi maybe? Wood? Engvall? Gurianov?

I would love Domi and has some nasty in his game. His dad was a fan favorite here. Do they have the cap space for Domi.

I do like Wood but he is injury prone and takes bad penalties at the worst times. Solid player though.

Engvall ehh big and soft. He’d be whipping boy here within 3 months.

I wish the Rangers kept Duclair.

Engvall is 'soft' for his size but he's a very effective forechecking 2way forward. With speed. Adds depth scoring. We could do a lot worse.

True . I feel he would be too expensive for the Rangers. I can see a lot of teams wanting him

Any bargain or tryout types that can come to the Rangers on the cheap? Any prove me type of players that might be available?

All these names being bandied about are pipe dreams. Go on cap friendly and play around. There’s no space for it.

The organization is very unlikely to move Laf, Chytil just got signed and Kakko is prob untouchable. Panarin isn’t waiving. They don’t want to move Lindgren.

Maybe Goodrow gets dumped in a cap move and replaced with a cheaper player but beyond that, they’re going to run it back with a new coach and more opportunities for the young guys to sink or swim

The problem is, I don’t care how he responds in October and November. We’re not going to know how he’s going to respond in the playoffs, which is what everyone is upset about, until the playoffs.

I mean, I know how he’s going to respond (he’s not). We all know that deep down I think.
We should be able to observe changes in habits before the playoffs.

Isn't Garland a $4.95 mill cap hit? We all know GMs hate being right up against the cap to start the season.
they retained a $1M in this fantasy

or we could take on the full 4.9M and replace Engvall with Othmann.

From what I've heard, there's serious doubt that Othmann is ready at the start of next season. Best case is he spends some quality time in the AHL before taking the next step.

I like the roster though.

Stop trading young players and fix the development aspect of the team, it's whats holding us back from a cup, we have 2 potential 70 point players stalled in their development and a few young d that need to get over a hump. The team consistantly puts the cart before the horse, they get a young player and force him into the lineup and then say he's not in NHL shape, well then why is he in the NHL? The only way to get young players to do what you want is to dangle the nhl carrot in front of them until they put in the work
sounds like someone we all know and most of us love...

Robertson is absolutely ready for a call-up. He's 22 and has played 2 full AHL seasons.

Id want to hang on to Chytil because Keller doesn't really play center anymore. Pretty strictly a winger. Also Chytil and Keller buzzing on a line together is where I'd want to play them. I still wouldnt know what the hell to do with Panarin but putting him on a line with Chytil/Keller who can both score 30 goals and play fast might mitigate the fact that he's lost a step. Vesey/trocheck would be 2/3s of the shutdown 3rd line we've been searching for.

Kreider-Mika-Kakko
Panarin(i guess)-Chytil-Keller
Cuylle/Othmann-Trocheck-Vesey

ah my bad, i coulda sworn he was a c, but i guess i haven't been watching the yotes very close. in that case i get the holding onto chytil angle a lot more. i'm curious how those 2 would look together as chytil likes to carry the puck too, though not as well and doesn't have the same hockey iq for moving it (at least going up ice...for some reason chytil seems to have blinders on and then regains some vision inside the ozone which i've never made sense of). he does have a fairly similar skillset to schmaltz though so it very well could work. i actually had panarin in mind for a guy keller might really jumpstart. for one - panarin will not be the guy bringing the puck up ice/into the zone unless on an odd man rush for the most part, so you cut his stupid cross ice passes by default. secondly, and more importantly, i think over the past few years he's gotten away from one of his best abilities....playing off puck in the ozone. he's become a distributor almost exclusively, and always looks to get the puck on the periphery. his first year when he was in hart form he was deadly with slipping into deadly spots off the puck to fire from. a dominant puck player like keller with his vision could force him to revive that.

The foundation needs to be changed and I would re-evaluate.

Trading our young forwards brings you pennies on the dollar. It's poor business. Getting rid of young players does not change anything.

Blaming our failures on our young 3rd lines forwards.... on a ELC and one on a 2nd contract making 2M is asinine. It's like blaming your Medical Training Staff for your 5v5 play.

You want to shake things up with roster? You move a fat paid Vet. That's what puts people on notice. A Panarin, Trouba or Kreider. I'm not saying that's the right move but that's what shakes up the room.
agree w/rest of this
CK is not the problem, he can stay

will post in coupla days
we have to come up with a strategy to move bread, period.

He is def not gonna stay up to the last minute of his deal and be humiiated w/zero % chance of new contract offer, let alone anything remotely near where he is.

He needs to be told clearly, no bullshit, he's playing 3rd line
If he doesn't like it, just say 'waive'

This roster gets one more kick at the the can with a new coach and if there aren’t clear positive returns after next season, say goodbye to Trouba & Kreider. Rightfully so
Anyone expecting “this roster” to do anything other than simp out when the going gets tough is gonna be disappointed.

They need to tear this down from the top & start COMPLETELY over again. That’s the only way anything will change

I give no optimism

They are what they are.

Most likely, in my opinion, they will retool like 6 times. End up, never that bad, never that good.

It's what the Rangers do.
Preach. It’s what we are as the worst original 6 franchise. The Costanza of hockey teams.

Start ordering chicken salad & tea & NOT being intimidated by women.
