I'd take him because he only has 1 year left on his contract. If he plays like Panarin did then he can go to Arizona and play in that new arena which is really a parking lot next to a Target.
who are we sending back that makes the money work? They are not taking Panarin for Matthews.
You wanna send Fox? Mika? probably not right.
Hey maybe they want Trouba lol

They may take Panarin if Matthews doesn't want to sign, and with what just happened, doubtful he'd want to resign.

I'd dangle Lindgren to get it done. Maybe Trouba would move the needle for them.

Matthews isn’t possible. You aim for a Marner/ Panarin swap. That’s unlikely but much more realistic lol

Trouba sure as shit wouldn’t move the needle

Maybe Trouba and Lindgren But that probably would make us weaker come playoffs lol
I don't even think they could even afford Lindgren plus Panarin. They are probably in the worst kind of cap hell there is.

Outside of Leaf fans who want him gone for underperforming in the playoffs, there was concern from them about him wanting to stay, of if he wants to stay, that he's going to want to be paid more than what he is currently getting.

Just one season of him is worth ridding Panarin.

Maybe Tavaras at 50% retained. He's even more dog shit then the rest, but if we're doing that than I want Nylander.

I had a similar thought but then it was abundantly clear that Panarin is not the answer to their playoff woes so that's gonna be a no-deal for TOR

Lindgren should play out his RFA years here and then we move on. His 3 mil won’t fund a roster retool and he’s much more useful than Goodrow at that cap hit. We should:

1. Explore ridding ourselves of Panarin
2. Moving Goodrow and freeing up (most) that cap hit
3. Give the Cuylle, Othmann, Edstrom, Jones, Hajek, Robertsons real shots
4. Cheap short term contracts to fill in some gaps like an Acciari

I just want to make one thing very clear. For those saying trade laf for the cap space, are you guys brain dead?

We clear what 2 million in cap? For what? You’ll have to sign someone else to replace his 40 points a year? Even if he never progresses past what he is now at 2 million dollars for a borderline 2nd line player is great value

Trading goodrow, Trouba, panarin, those type of contracts clears cap space. Not trading a guy making 2 million dollars. That doesn’t “shake up” the team. That means you are going to end up with the same exact team next year.

If you want to trade laf fine but it’s not a cap dump and it needs to be for a very high 1st round pick this year. Top 5 minimum. It won’t happen so this whole conversation is moot

Im pretty sure given Hajek about six real shots hahaha

What are your thoughts on this lineup

Laff-mika-kakko
Panarin-chytil-haula/fast
Kreider-trocheck-vesey
Cuylle-brodzinski-motte

Kandre-fox
Gostisbehere-trouba
Zac Jones-schneider

Igor
Halak

And this is cap compliant at just a $1 mill bump on the current cap

- Goody buyout/trade for salary dump
- Lindgren traded for a columbus's additional first. They need LHD badly.
- Rangers replace lindgren with gostisbehere whos a good puck moving dman that the rangers are in desperate need of. I may be ambitious with the price tag.
- Rangers need to get faster and bringing jesper fast helps that. He also has already played on a line with panarin and that'll help make the transition smooth

Need to ship goodrow out and get one of haula/fast for 3 X $2
I don't agree. Haula/Fast will play with Panarin and the rangers will be going down the same rabbit hole that has plagued the rangers since the arrival of Panarin. Too much east/west play because that line will revolve around Panarin because the RW is a 3rd line grinder with no creativity so everyone will try to get the puck to Panarin.

I want to just put Mika and Panarin together and keep them together. Coaches keep thinking you have to separate them to balance the line up but then you have two top lines that are heavy on the east/west play. Mika and Panarin love to create off the rush. Just play them together. Kakko can keep the play in the ozone better than any Fast/Goodrow type can. Move Chytil to 2rw and trade or keep Goodrow till the TDL to create more of a 3rd line matchup line. I'm going to lose my mind if we walk into next season with a Goodrow/Fast type player on a line with Panarin for the 1231234 straight season and expect something to change.

Panarin/Mika/Kakko
Kreider or Laf/Trocheck/Chytil
Kreider or Laf/Goodrow or new vet 3c/rookie
fourth line

Would go with a top line of…

Kreider - Mika - Kakko

Laf has done crap to be gifted a Top line slot.

No we don’t.

I mean move Goodrow out but don’t tie his money up in one of those guys.

You can find better value on the market or just promote from within.
Whos better value on the market or from within that helps our deficiencies? Prob gonna cost more than $2mm for them anyway, particularly haula

We need this guy. Don't care about his corgi, gap control, per 60, edge work, tensile strength or shear resistance. As long as he does THIS every time the Rangers score.

So without Lindgren you want to make the defense worse and give Igor more shots on net against. Yea lets rely on goalie again.

Can Gudas play LD. I know he is RD. I would love Gudas on the Rangers only if he can play LD. Imagine Lindgren and Gudas, Trouba, Schneider on the same team.

We already have gudas. He happens to make $8mill on our team though

And why is that a problem when in Panarin's career as a Ranger at 5v5 he has a 66.4, 60.0, 59.0, and 54.3 GF%? You might not like how it looks stylistically but it has worked.

Yea, it's worked really well for us? Am I missing something? Lets keep doing the same thing I guess.
