So he gave us 2nd worst 1st overall & 3rd worst 2nd overall in the last 16 years

I like the noise from Laviolette so far. We’ll see if he holds the players to it or if it’s LWL for the bottom six and whatever Artie wants the rest of the time. I’m cautiously hopeful.

But when he talks about upping the compete level… I think that some of our guys are capable of another gear, but some of them simply don’t HAVE the DNA to play a significantly more up-tempo style that requires the kind of skating and conditioning that means you experience nausea once in a while when training. That’s the kind of conditioning guys like Crosby and MacKinnon and Eichel PURSUE voluntarily. I’m not sure some of our guys are capable of digging that deep even when forced to do so.

two 'can't miss NHL ready prospects'.

I really have no clue why I watch this team sometimes

A few things about LWL:

1. In the neutral zone, it’s essentially a 2-3, with the two defensemen and one forward splitting the back line into thirds. It’s good for avoiding odd man rushes or a guy splitting the defensemen for a breakaway.

2. It doesn’t have to be the LW on the back line. On any given shift or rush, it could be the RW or the C.

3. It’s incredibly simple and hard to f*** up.
I read the article from Vince.... Hartnell mentioned that's what he played in Philly or did I misread it? That's a major stretch to go with if that's the case.

Sure, it may be a LWL but is that Vince's source?

They can literally just flip the strat of you want the RW to do the job. We'd have Kakko, Wheeler, Vesey, and Goodrow. I'd say that group looks capable of that responsibility.

well, so far its true. The Rongo development plan is like a 7 year plan though so by the time they're 26 or so i think Kakko will rise a bit, Buch became a stud around 26-27 and i think Kakko is more talented than him, so he could become a better version of Buch which would place him over someone like Reinhart for example.

This team is absolutely able to play the new system, in fact i think it will give more defined roles with regards to how each player relates to their opponents and take a lot of the confusion element and running around out of the game, which in turn always tired us out. People say we're slow, i disagree, i think our system has been too loose and it tired us out.

Dig deep or ride the pine, set the tone early by benching a vet, benching Chytil or Cullye doesn't send a message.

Miller will be just fine.

Now show all the ones where he's caught. Or, are we pretending those didn't exist because he has some highlights where he hustles players down. Now granted, if you play it right, your last line of defense doesn't get exposed, but if they're pairing Trouba with Miller again, I'm not sure that's going to be played correctly.

I wouldn't even bother doing any player in the last 3 years. Way too soon. No surprise the oldest players are at the top.

Way too premature. At one year younger, Kakko outscored Kreider (Kakko's 2022/23 season to Kreids first full season). My calculations and my prediction has Kakko being a far superior player to Kreider.

That’s not how highlights work

You’re right, let’s buy him out.
