Tarasenko might be more F***** than NFL RBs if he wants to play for a contender this season and get paid

Boston 3.8 (Krejci? Bergeron? centers?)
Panthers -412K
Leafs -8M
Lightning -6.5M
Canes 2.5
Devils 3.9
Islanders 288K
Rangers 3M (Laf)
Pens -1.5M
Caps 99K
Avs -4.2M
Stars 469K
Wild 4.6
Flames 599K (rebuild? Everyone wants to leave)
Oilers 6.9 (Bouchard, Leonard)
Kings 123K
Vegas -1.5M

will he play in Seattle? Ottawa? Are Ottawa a playoff team?

2/3 of the league has very little money it seems. Some of the armchair GM's on this board would have done a much better job with the cap.

Best ufa signing in franchise history @GoAwayPanarin

This is the exact reason he is so terrible for the org. Outstanding regular season, huge reason the team makes the playoffs. Then disappears completely in the playoffs. Worst combination because if hes not relevant in the post season youd rather just not have him, miss the playoffs and build an actual team that can make a run. Get higher draft picks as well as disburse his near $12M salary to better purposes.

I'm eager to be done with Panarin because of the Cap hit. There's no doubt he's been one of the best regular season players for years now, there's equally as little doubt that he's leaving a lot to be desired with his playoff play. We will inevitably sign another big ticket as soon as we have more money, my only hope is we actually get a guy who can do both.

Panarin is 49th among F's in playoff points over that time period. 21st among wingers. f***in Josh Bailey has a better P/GP in the playoffs than Panarin over the last 5 years
He has 46 points in 57 career playoff games. He wasnt great past 2 playoffs by any stretch. But you guys are insane acting like hes some bum. Best ufa signing of an original 6 franchise in the history of the franchise

Let see how he does with a legitimate coach that plays a structured game and system. He was fine the whole rest of his career in the playoffs. PPG in fact.

Pretty easy to pick out a few moves that could have been done differently. When people were calling them at the time, it's not hindsight.

He’s paid to be the 2nd best player in the NHL... HE‘S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THAT. And that’s not even considering the playoff ghosting.
Is he the best UFA we ever signed? Yes.
Is he our best UFA signing? No. He’s a bad value for his contract.
Hes easily a top 10 winger in hockey. You guys have just gone full out nuts because he didnt have a good playoffs and is frustrating to watch when he freelances in a team without a system. Youll see this year.

Does one count more than the other?

No, but if, in theory, 90% of them were on the power play, you wouldn't want to touch his PP minutes while making his ES minutes fair game.

He was worth the contract once upon a time. The first 2-3 years he was elite. He was in the conversation for MVP. It's just that it's a fact that most contracts age very poorly and no one can be expected to remain at that level for 7 years, unless you are like, Crosby, Ovechkin, or McDavid.

There is a very simple solution to the Chytil faceoff conundrum. Play him with Wheeler if it's really that much of a concern. Have Wheeler who is RH, take the faceoffs on the right side of the ice and Chytil take the others so he is mainly on his strong side. Wheeler, going back a few years, was actually pretty good on draws.
it is simple but it isn't. if the two are not a match in actual gameplay then why force the pairing?

to the same end the simple solution has been to put kreider on chytil's wing and let him take draws, but they dont mesh in the gameplay. it is also an issue to have a center where he cannot do one of the foundational things for a player in that position.

if they are trending towards more pp than es than the argument starts to become about a pp specialist. aside from that, NO ONE can genuinely state that the panarin of the past 2 years at 5v5 is the same panarin that was here at the start of the contract. he has become a permiter player that can knife average defenses with his supreme passing and vision, but against the teams you need to beat on the way to a cup he is a disaster at even strength and even worse in the playoffs.

Chytil doubled his points totals last year compared to the year before. He broke 20 goals for the first time in his acareer.

In what world is that regressing?
someone else said it, im not sure how you responded to the quoted post and took that to mean point totals. it was clearly addressing faceoffs

Panarin is undoubtedly a productive regular season player. The problem is the team has been paying him as the 2nd best player in the NHL for the last 4 years and he's not that guy.

But good news! Now they're only playing him to be the 3rd best player in the league. So that should take some pressure off of him.
