I fear Cullye may end up either back in the AHL or sent back mid-season. Last time I posted something like this, about 20 minutes later Lav signed lol but...

Feels like maybe Tank is holding out for a way to come here on the cheap again and go for a contract next season. I'm only an eye test guy, but I certainly didn't hate him while he's here. I liked his shoot-first/nose-for-the-net mentality and seems like we missed that about as much as speed last year before he got here. That obviously pushes a spot out.

Laf-Zbad-Kakko
Art-Chytil-Tank
Kreider-Troch-Wheeler
Cullye-Goodrow-Vesey
Bonino/someone else

That would have to be some semblance of the set up. It seems like Kane wants to wire his way here too again, so where does that push a guy later if we're healthy? Just thinking out loud.

I am feeling very 'meh' about this season unless Laf/Kakko get some serious ice time. Diamonds are made from pressure, I'm still behind these kids. I mean if not though, what the hell are we even doing? At that point, it's clearly a Hail Mary year and we might as well just add Kane, see what happens, and move the hell on.

Girardi's got some man titties on him.

“Mid. 2/10 would not bang”

Those are 4th line players.

I know everyone just thinks that is suitable or that Othmann/Cuylle will grab a 3rd line spot, but the former is insufficient and the latter option is rushing the kids. We will find ourselves at the deadline ultimately looking to add more punch to the team and paying assets to do so. I would rather add Tarasenko (if at a reasonable deal) or Kane a month into the season then LTIR him until January, as opposed to forking over assets at the trade deadline again. The talent is out there. Even if those once superstars have regressed, they will be better than most, if not all, options at the deadline.
I’ll just let RGY to continue to represent my position. Nice work, buddy.

chytil is not going to be able to lock a top 2 center job if he has another sub 40% faceoff percentage season. I know some people try to discredit the stat, but it is at an unacceptable number at this point. That along with the on and off general offensive iq questions that still linger make me nervous, but I also think he is a perfect example of a player that NEEDS pp time and touches to help gain offensive confidence and develop that iq.
Well. I guess we will see. If Chytil can’t for some treason improve, I’d say it’s a good thing we have Trocheck pulling 56%.

he has regressed, that is what sucks the most. i wish there was improvement trending there. i want chytil to succeed so badly.

I hear you. He’s been up and down on FO% but still never got out of the lower 40’s.

Chytil doubled his points totals last year compared to the year before. He broke 20 goals for the first time in his acareer.

In what world is that regressing?
I’m pretty sure he meant that in FO%, not overall.

Ok that makes more sense.

Was never his strong point… also if i remember correctly he actually started the year really well on faceoffs then fell of a cliff there.

Faceoffs arent the be all end all, but he does need to get closer to the 50 mark.

There is a very simple solution to the Chytil faceoff conundrum. Play him with Wheeler if it's really that much of a concern. Have Wheeler who is RH, take the faceoffs on the right side of the ice and Chytil take the others so he is mainly on his strong side. Wheeler, going back a few years, was actually pretty good on draws.

I'm not completely opposed to signing Tarasenko or Kane. I do worry that the team is too much of a very specific type of attack-style however.

Heinen '22-23
Age 27
22 points in 65 games
10:45 ATOI
-0.4 CF% rel @ 5v5
1.9 p/60 @ 5v5
24 takeaways to 16 giveaways (he's been positive in this differential for 3 years)
76 hits (his hit total actually went up with 2 minutes less per game in ice time)

Lets compare to Vesey

Vesey '22-23
Age 29
25 points in 81 games
13:37 ATOI
+1.9 CF% rel @ 5v5
1.2 p/60 @ 5v5
56 takeaways to 29 giveaways
98 hits

Heinen doesn't PK, but in watching him play, that surprises me. He should be able to do that if given the opportunity. He scores more @ 5v5 than Vesey by quite a wide margin and is 2 years younger.

I think if given the option of Heinen compared to Tarasenko in terms of pure fit, it's Heinen.

I was all good until you ended the post with Heinen over Tarasenko haha. I respect the effort though Viper.

I have no problem with Heinen….as a 4th line player. The same way I would welcome Motte back…as a 4th line player, or Vesey should be on the 4th line, or Goodrow. We are talking Top 9. There is no way I want a player like Heinen in a Top 9 spot over Tarasenko or Kane. As the year goes on and you want to experiment moving players around in your Top 9, I would much prefer the rotation be Kakko-Wheeler-Tarasenko/Kane than it to be Kakko-Wheeler-Heinen/Othmann/Cuylle. Full stop for me. We are going to end up at the trade deadline forced to deal a 1st (or a 2nd with a simple condition to become a 1st) because the teams around us are improving and we are jockeying for position again. I will keep saying it, if we had just one of Kane (and his bad hip) or Tarasenko for the full season, we absolutely finish ahead of the Devils and likely the Hurricanes too. It makes a difference.

Rongos aren't that creative in their thinking. Chytil is drafted as center chytil take faceoff.

I think Kreider-Chytil-Wheeler would be a pretty intriguing line

51% last year I think iirc

Avs traded for Ross at the draft for pick
#37.

I saw someone mention Tarasenko to them as an option l.. I guess not

Tarasenko might be more F***** than NFL RBs if he wants to play for a contender this season and get paid

Boston 3.8 (Krejci? Bergeron? centers?)
Panthers -412K
Leafs -8M
Lightning -6.5M
Canes 2.5
Devils 3.9
Islanders 288K
Rangers 3M (Laf)
Pens -1.5M
Caps 99K
Avs -4.2M
Stars 469K
Wild 4.6
Flames 599K (rebuild? Everyone wants to leave)
Oilers 6.9 (Bouchard, Leonard)
Kings 123K
Vegas -1.5M

will he play in Seattle? Ottawa? Are Ottawa a playoff team?

wild

Maybe we can resurrect the Danbury Trashers and he can play there.
