Kreider-Trocheck-Wheeler seems like a no brainer to me.

I don't even care what the other lines are. That line should be one of the best 5v5 lines in the league.

Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey is fine too, I guess, but they're not gonna score.
Great... we'll see it for a quarter of a game in December, and we'll never see it again.

I am a fan of Kredier-Tro-Vesey. They played well. But the obvious upgrade without hurting any aspect of the line is Kreider-Tro-Wheeler. That line could just be a real pain in the ass to deal with. They literally have a bit of everything.

From there, Panarin-Chytil is a combination I would like to try, and I guess Zibanejad is the lucky winner who has Lafreniere shooting his passes into row 22.

Yup. I put Vesey on the other wing with Panarin and Chytil. They are all still here for this year and next. Staple them together and see if they can get it to work. Yes, that leaves Z with Laf and Kakko, but honestly it should be that way. I think they will be much more effective this season. Laf and Kakko are still very young.

Laf-Z-Kakko
Kreider-Tro-Wheeler
Panarin-Chytil-Vesey
Goodrow-Bonino-Pitlick

They should go down to 21 skaters to accrue more space. At least for a couple months. They shouldn’t need a 13th forward. It would be even better to be down to 20 for a month, but we have a heavy road schedule.

Trade Goodrow’s cap and sign Tarasenko for $2.5 x 1 year.

Even if Tara bites you get rid of the Goodrow cap.. it’s a win and could be a huge win

He's not even an awkward fit, though. Panarin is an awkward fit at times. Lafreniere just isn't good at anything.
Well that too, but you hear about a checking line and he doesn't fit there, and then you can go back with him and Chytil and I guess that fits, or the final option with Zibanejad which in a world where he reaches his upside as a dynamic playmaker makes sense but he's never shown he could be that.

I'm just curious, for the people that are advocating for tank to sign here at this point, I'm not really sure why you would do that. Wheeler more or less has filled that spot for a right-winger to be gifted a top six position with power play time. If you bring tank in now and push wheeler out of that slot you're going to have a problem around here before you even dropped the puck. And I have to imagine that if tank is only going to sign for two to three million that there's probably other places he could go to potentially have a big year rack up some points or the off season of 2024. It just doesn't make any sense to me at this time for them to do that or for him to do it as well. He just fired his agent so he's obviously not enamored with his options or the way that market has evolved for him, but again if you're going to bring them in here then you only way for that to work and not have an issue development dealer over power place time then it's for KK to get squeezed into the third line again and he left off of all the power play options which then goes back to your organization spending its tires. He also doesn't really address player type needs and witnesses that exist already with our forward group. It's another case of just adding a right-winger because they're a right winger.

If they can somehow move Goodrow and sign Laf for 2.5/2 that leaves them with about 4 to sign Tarasenko to a discount deal, if he wants to come back.

Also assuming they want to ride the edge of the cap the entire year, again.

Or, they could just play as is, try to accrue space and find a way to fit in Kane later in the year. But i'd rather go the Tank route because it rids the team of Goodrow's contract. But that pot will have to be sweetened for another team to take him on. And hes got a NTC. Wont be easy.

Besides- what’s the hope in accruing cap space over a single season except to add an impact player at the deadline? If you can do that before start of the season, that is preferable to adding new bodies going into the playoffs.
