It’s insane Barclay Goodrow has any sort of NTC

I had heard it some time ago from my outlets and then someone here glossed on it and I believe one of the best reporters glazed over it. From what I have gathered from my end is they didn't expect his skating to be an issue at this level but now they see it as a problem and they have/had tried to redirect him to a net guy and a guy to grind below the goal line the way Kreider does. It seemed that the org saw his most utilitarian role to be the heir to Kreider's role which I think is ridiculous but they felt boxed into the player based on the draft position. This I got early on in the season (November ish I think) and the way he was used through the season from that point seemed to be consistent with that. I think it's a mistake personally but that means nothing.Source for this?
There's no problem with being a 'net-front' type.. All of our forwards should be capable of going in front... He needs to do it all. Tkatchuk cant skate but seems to do a little of everything. He's a playmaker just as much as he's a net front guy. It's stupid to limit his gameplay/style to 'sit in front' but that's our orgs barbaric viewThe thing that gets exhausting is that he played mostly with players that either were members of the top 6 or are players that everyone here wants to be members of the top 6 this year. It's not like he was playing with Kevin Rooney and Ryan Hollweg. It's a weird thing to criticize who he played with and then want him AND the guys he played with to all be in the top 6. It's a paradox of an argument.
Most people point to pp usage and opportunities, although he has looked like a mess on the pp. If there is ANY truth to the report that they feel his skating is now such an issue that they asked him to evolve to a net front guy then that's the core of it all. They don't think he can play his game at this level so they are trying to change his game and it's made him a mess. The bottom line is the kid needs to do something and start being noticeable. That doesn't mean scoring every other shifts, but he needs to do something to actually impact games and be noticeable instead of just being there and laughing a lot.
Not that I would but is #2 even possible?
At least in this instance Laf would be playing with talent and not someone like Goodrow/Vesey etc if he’s on a lower lineKreider Zibs Kakko
Panarin Chytil Tank
Laffy Trocheck Wheeler
not a terrible top9 on paper if we could somehow pull it off.
Exactly. It's like telling a child it's okay to avoid writing your name since you're not good at writing. Idiotic. There's no problem with being a 'net-front' type.. Yeah he would have to take 4(ish) without Goodrow if he has 5M+ offers. (Which I guess he did/does? So why not take it)Kreider Zibs Kakko
Panarin Chytil Tank
Laffy Trocheck Wheeler
not a terrible top9 on paper if we could somehow pull it off.
the only way it happens is if Tank forces his way here similar to Kane last TDL. He will have to take a lot less, even if it means moving Goodrow.
Everyone has excuses for laffy. You look at other players that have no draft stock that force their way into and up a lineup. If laffy was doing that we wouldn't making excuses for him.I’m not saying he didn’t get some time but he was demoted after two bad games with Panarin and Trocheck after he had 2 assists and a goal a few games before. Gallant said it was because those 3 were giving up too many chances per game together.
Not related but people also need to keep into account Kakko has suffered some injuries. Let’s hope not but if he were to go down again, Wheeler could then play in the top six even if they were to move Laf or Kreider over there. I really think he’s going to surprise alot of people.
because I have doubts his family/wfie want to move to Ottawa.Yeah he would have to take 4(ish) without Goodrow if he has 5M+ offers. (Which I guess he did/does? So why not take it)
It’s not really an excuse if a line is performing and then they are demoted (by Gallants own words) for having a few bad games together. And how do you force your way into a spot over the best player on the team and a guy with 88 goals over 2 seasons?Everyone has excuses for laffy. You look at other players that have no draft stock that force their way into and up a lineup. If laffy was doing that we wouldn't making excuses for him.
It's akin to all the excuses for kakko missing empty nets regularly, oops, I guess they left the dome open and the wind blew that shot wide of the net...
I mean he’s certainly made a lot of $ over his career so far so it’s maybe not that crazy I guessbecause I have doubts his family/wfie want to move to Ottawa.
I see it just as likely for him to take a $1M deal with the Rangers as to going to Canada. Maybe I'm wrong. I'd believe Carolina but why didn't that deal get done? then firing his agents? odd scenario
So which is it? He was demoted unjustly or he shouldnt be in that spot bc of the other two players ahead of him? It’s not really an excuse if a line is performing and then they are demoted (by Gallants own words) for having a few bad games together. And how do you force your way into a spot over the best player on the team and a guy with 88 goals over 2 seasons?
mostly all of our forwards at one point or another were 'replacement level' 5v5 under Gallant. So which is it? He was demoted unjustly or he shouldnt be in that spot bc of the other two players ahead of him?
Good players find a way to impact a team. Laffy has been replacement level at times and we are three years in. He still gets on the ice. Do something to impact the game during your time instead of just being on the ice. Everyone in the NHL is suppose to stand out and impact a game. There are too many times he is just... There
This right here. Zadina would be the whipping boy after 10 games too. The likes we havent seen since Enver Lisin.Ranger fans: "The organization can't develop young forwards! Laf & Kakko are busts!"
Also Ranger fans: "Please sign this actual bust despite it making no long term or short term sense"
Shiny new toy syndrome. Zadina sucks and is most likely destined for the KHL or a rebuilder.
Or maybe we get to February and realize we don't need anyone because a younger guy stepped up.Thats probably true but if the feb deal results in adding a player who is a better fit, I'd probably prefer that route.

I'm so sick of the coach always being the issue here for every f***ing player that under performs. It's turk, it's Quinn, it's torts, it's av, it's renney, it's Colin Campbell, it's Keenan is a meany, it's Roger Nelson, and onward.mostly all of our forwards at one point or another were 'replacement level' 5v5 under Gallant.
Panarin and Kreider are the exceptions imo... funny enough those are the ones blocking him. I thought he had some decent looks/runs at RW but it's cut short always as soon as theres a 'rough patch' or 'rough game'..
IT doesn't excuse Laffy. It's just a 360degree failure. From player to the org/management. No one is helping the situation
when you're talking about developing youth... a lot of it has to do with the coaches.I'm so sick of the coach always being the issue here for every f***ing player that under performs. It's on the players at the end of the day. Too many of them enjoy the country club of this org.
Pretends to be mad.If the Rangers have any chance at Tank for a discount, the only route is to get Goody off the books. Period. There's no other route thats remotely plausible.
you didn't get the updated memo for the template? What the hell is a 5 on 5 net front guy?
It's both though, but kids see what vets are and are not doing and follow suit. A lot of the issues w development here can be attributed to the org standards that exist with vets and what the kids see is acceptable.when you're talking about developing youth... a lot of it has to do with the coaches.
When you're talking about overpaid vets of the past, more can fall on the country club attitude.
This org is cursed.
Too busy hobnobbing with coaching HOFers.you didn't get the updated memo for the template?
Perfected by Brett Howden. The decoy that's there to open up the middle of the ice. That's what we're doing with our first 1OA. It's brilliant. We don't know how to develop skill so this was the next best option.
I hope that pays well. lolToo busy hobnobbing with coaching HOFers.
That’s what i said though. It’s a 360 degree failure. It's both though, but kids see what vets are and are not doing and follow suit. A lot of the issues w development here can be attributed to the org standards that exist with vets and what the kids see is acceptable.
