Everyone has excuses for laffy. You look at other players that have no draft stock that force their way into and up a lineup. If laffy was doing that we wouldn't making excuses for him.

It's akin to all the excuses for kakko missing empty nets regularly, oops, I guess they left the dome open and the wind blew that shot wide of the net...
Who are the guys from Laf's draft class with no "draft stock" that have forced their way up a lineup over a Kreider and Panarin? As far as I can see, only Stutzle and Raymond have scored more than Laf in the NHL from that draft, both had "draft stock" and neither had to force anything. They were given elevated opportunity.

It's both though, but kids see what vets are and are not doing and follow suit. A lot of the issues w development here can be attributed to the org standards that exist with vets and what the kids see is acceptable.
They should emulate Kreider's work ethic and see where that takes them. I'm not even saying they are lazy, I'm saying Kreider is a level above most in his off ice work.

Are Zadina and Chytil friends from the Czech program? I know the NHL is a very serious sporting competition where tampering is illegal but it seems crazy to me if the guy left 4 million dollars on the table without having any idea what comes next

So which is it? He was demoted unjustly or he shouldnt be in that spot bc of the other two players ahead of him?

Good players find a way to impact a team. Laffy has been replacement level at times and we are three years in. He still gets on the ice. Do something to impact the game during your time instead of just being on the ice. Everyone in the NHL is suppose to stand out and impact a game. There are too many times he is just... There
Panarin and Kreider belong ahead of him but that’s where moving him to RW came into play.. He was playing well with Trocheck and Panarin there and then GG removed him from it. They didn’t have anyone who should be over him (on RW) at that time and no Goodrow/Vesey weren’t it

The truth is the Rangers have a 3 year window to win. (Panarin, Kreider, Shesty on his cheaper deal, etc). If we’re just going to waste Laf as a 3LW maybe they should trade him. There’s no magic pill to fix the LW situation any time soon. I’m not saying they “should” I’m saying something has to give.

It doesn't have to be a 3 year window.

Try to boot Panarin when the cap opens up next year.

Well we only currently have 2 RWs, so idk where you're getting "not enough opportunities" from? Certainly you wont be killing Drury in a few months when Vesey or Goodrow are playing in the top 6-9? The Rangers absolutely have a need on the right side and if Patrick Kane is coming for 800K plus bonuses, I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat. Going into the season with a complete roster would be nice for once, wouldn't you agree? I know you hate paying rental prices, this is how you avoid that.
Is Kane playing on the first unit PP again? That opportunity should go to someone else. The Rangers are playing the first 3 months of the regular season without Kane and here comes Kane who replaces a younger player on the PP.

I would like to see Lafreniere play on the right side. Kreider is not a 3rd line player.

Kane is not eligible for bonuses.

A lineup of all finesse players doesn't work.

The Rangers can't have another season of 9 top 6 forwards.

could Zac Jones be a “sweetener” in a Goodrow trade hypothetically?

Yes. He isn't getting a look here any time soon. Gustafsson is also going to be good enough to play every night and not to mention his loss could be absorbed by Scanlin, Robertson, Emberson and other players in Hartford.

It's not gonna be a younger player on the PP instead of Kane. It'll be Trocheck instead of Kane and right now, it should be.

The NHL should be a meritocracy, even if that's not always true. Lafreniere couldn't score on the PP on an empty net.

Don't know what Tarasenko is looking for. Literally nobody has the space to offer his demands outside of scorched earth teams.

The shit is starting to hit the fan on the league's unsustainable financial model.
Probably the Rangers if any way possible lol. His wife really liked NY. Happy wife happy life.

Maybe it’s def not about a lot of money (but money) he’s rejected 5-6M per offers supposedly

Zadina should ONLY have been acquired as a cap dump if we were sending Trouba retained to DET this yr for Zadina's 1.8 + Gettinger 775 or whatev k coming back. Instant 3.0-3.5 cap returned, structural cap reform, and we see about Z w/Chytil IF we get too much to turn down for LaF
otherwise NO

To be completely honest, I'd attach our 2024 2nd rounder to Goodrow if it meant we can bring back Tarasenko on a 1-2 year deal at 3-4m.

Otherwise, you'll be trading that 2nd in February anyway for a rental.
NO NO NO NO
stop wasting assets
damnit to hell
no
no effin win now rentals which actually = lost, squandered assets

WAY too much. He’s one of our top few prospects. You dont trade him for a small cap dump.

Get rid of Robertson if anyone is going.
We should not be adding to move Good; his value will go up w/the next fall injury.
BUT total disagree on the bold
Jones does not sniff Robertson or Scanlin
stop overrating ZJ

We saw Goligoski do this with Minnesota where he signed a 1 year deal for way less money and then half way through the year he signed an extension for a bit more once Minnesota opened up some space. It was a handshake agreement between the player and team. It's risky for the player obviously in case an injury occurs.

We did that with Vesey

Ive made my thoughts clear on having 2 evenly distributed PP units with Fox QBing both, other than that, its the coaches decision. I also don't subscribe to the dogmatic 1st, 2nd, 3rd line thing. Every team that wins the Cup has 3 scoring lines and a 4th line that plays heavy and wears out the opposing D. The way I see it, thats how the team has been built. We have basically brought back the same team, with Wheeler, Bonino & Gustafsson as the only guys who will really make any real impact. We weren't a finesse team last year and we certainty aren't now. I really don't understand that narrative. Id say the squad last year was defined by a lack of structure that made everyone underperform, not a team filled with skill players.

Wheeler, Kreider, Laf...
About 30% of Wheeler's points schmoints are goals and about 60% of Kreider's points schmoints are goals so I guess being a designated 5 on 5 net front guy gives you the freedom to apply your individual talents to the role. Cised.

I agree, we shouldnt be adding anything truthfully, ESPECIALLY one of our better prospects like Jones.

Tarasenko is going to have to go to a place he don’t want to go too unless teams clear cap.

maybe Seattle?

Also not for nothing, considering the wacky past few years.. it's funny the 2 extremes that have formed from the salary cap. On one side you have teams like Tampa and Vegas essentially circumventing the cap to win championships and on the other side you have teams that are making absurd deals to hit the cap floor so they can be horrendous for high draft picks. Lovely situation. Teams flat out selling the lot to tank, Chicago is taking the cake the past couple years... kudos to them for the Taylor Hall trade. He might not be the player he once was but he didn't play a premiere role in Boston, he'll help them hit the cap floor and probably get fed 19 minutes a night with Bedard. He has a real chance to get back to being a high end player next to him. The best though is them signing Corey Perry and Nick Foligno for 4 million each. It's silliness

You have to qualify What playing well is. He was struggling getting out of his own zone and managing breakouts over on that side and that's what virtually everybody identified would be the issue for any of those three to switch sides because none of them are particularly strong on that side of the ice. In reality this roster is designed with so many interchangeable parts without set roles. I mean virtually everybody got rotated between all the various top 9 spots so it just becomes tiresome for me to hear that this guy struggled because of whatever line he was or wasn't on. I'm just done with the excuses after 3 years. He's got to do it at this point

I hope that pays well. lol

That’s what i said though. It’s a 360 degree failure.

From every angle. We can’t just label one aspect
Sorry, my discussed for how this organization has handled the last 5 years without any actual direction is just being at my soul at this point. If things don't pan out with some stability after this year I hope they absolutely just clean shop on everybody and bring in somebody new to actually only entire situation with a direction and a plan, but even saying that it doesn't matter because the only is always going to be the guy pulling strings around here. One stubbed toe on the coffee table away from a new directive
