Most teams have their own Ben Harpur waiting at #7 and bolster at the trade deadline. Ideally, you'd like to have a better option but that's not in the cards right now.

they could've signed Reilly instead of the corpse of Nick Bonino and maybe not have to give up actual things for someone probably worse than him at the deadline

Mike Reilly? Who spent most of last year in the AHL? Not really an upgrade.

yeah he was underutilized on a stacked Boston team, a perfect guy to buy low on. he could skate circles around ben harpur. not shocking that the Panthers signed him, they have one of the smartest front offices in the league and already have done this twice before with Montour and Forsling.

As are most teams. Hell, the team that just played in the Final threw Marc Staal out there every night for twenty minutes.
Watching Marc Staal skating around like a blind Llama, sucking the life out of his team for real critical minutes at a pop, made it hard for me to believe that I was really watching the Stanley Cup Finals.

Sad emoji haha

Anybody personally watch this Belize fella play?
Curious to the pros and cons from your perspective.

Thats enough depth forwards Drury. Now get Laf and KAM signed.
So... that is a lot of cheap depth forwards....

now would you trade Laf and Miller for EK65 at 50% retention? (...add Kane later)

Would you do it if this Cup window is only open for the next 3 seasons ? ...

Is Tara on the market still because he’s waiting for Drury to trade Goodrow?

Edit: watch this be for Tara.

Imagine thinking this is anything more than a 1-2 round team
My thing will be is the team better than it was opening night last year. I think that is a resounding yes. Here is last seasons opening night lineup

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Trocheck-Kravtsov
Lafreniere-Chytil-Goodrow
Vesey-Carpenter-Reaves

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones-Schneider

We don't know what it will look like for lines, but the replacements are:

Wheeler > Kravtsov
Bonino > Carpenter
Pitlick/Belzile > Reaves
Gustafsson > Jones (we'll find out if Jones improved)

Our step back is Quick. Halak was very good, especially after the early point of the season.

Also, none of these guys are going to block a young player so long as they are better.

Drury has sured up a bunch of the margins. If you get Miller and Lafreniere around 6M, you're looking at ~800k in space that will accrue for a deadline deal or 2.
