Marc Staal had a damn good season?

On what planet is this true? Let me know so I can never visit.
Marc Staal actually did have a decent regular season. He was better statistically that Schneider and Trouba but that’s not saying much.

If we are legitimately talking about bringing him back here we should make Drury walk the plank though.

I think I'd like to see:

Laff - Zib - Vesey(Switch with Kane when he's healthy)
Panarin - Chytil - Kakko
Kreider - Trocheck - Wheeler
Cuylle - Bonino - Goodrow
Pitlick

Miller - Trouba
Lindgren - Fox
Gustafson - Schneider
Mackey

One guy to keep an eye on from now to the TDL is Labanc. Local product, last year of contract, have to say he hasn't lived up to it and probably won't be extended.

Playing on the top line will do that for you.

Yeah, you might want to check even strength ice time for forwards and rethink your position. Kreider had less even strength ice time than Lafreniere, for example. Or Kakko. Or Panarin. Or Tarasenko. Or Trocheck. Or Kane. Or Zibanejad.

Here's that link for you:

Kreider isn't a 3rd line player. He's also 4th on the team CF% among forwards. 3rd in Fenwick. 3rd in OPS.

Being a good player will do that for you.

Never said anything about ice time, said he's on the first line, with our best center, and usually our best dman. I'm pro kreider but when he was on the 3rd line with Trochek the team had a lot more balance and imo he was a perfect fit there, allowed us to roll 3 good lines. With him holding a spot on the top line we are way too top heavy.

Yeah, but what is his slugging percentage?

Kreider is a top line LW, maybe better suited as an elite 2nd liner. He's the best skater this organization has drafted and developed since the turn of the century and will be the all time leading goal scorer in franchise history when he hangs them up (as long as he stays and he should).

He'll be a 3rd liner when he is 35.

I like it. Also like it how you kept Laf at his natural position and on top line all in one.
Just worried about Kakko with Panarin. At times he looks lost with him on the ice. I would even flip Kakko with Wheeler and make that third line our second line (sorry Filip).
Also feel for Jones because seems like he will never get a real shot on this team.

I see a lot of people putting Kane in the lineup. How are we going to sign him when they have about 7 million left and need to sign Laf and Miller? Assuming Laf/Miller cost 6.5 mil that leaves 500k. His rehab is going to take 3-5 months so LTIR for the year is probably not going to work.

I guess it’s possible if Kane proves he’s healthy and wants to only play in NY around Dec/Jan they could look to trade Goodrow or these guys on short deals? Only thing I could think of

Would love to add Tyler Bertuzzi

The Rangers aren’t in THAT bad of a spot. If you look at cap friendly Drury has the ability to pay a few players just over $1m, especially if Jones and Cuylle are penciled in.

They could conceivably sign Eller at $1.3m, Smith at $1.3m and Kostin at $1.1m.

The key is the team needs to NOT carry an extra player on the roster. If an injury happens call someone up. With that being the case, I would expect Drury to sign 3-4 veteran tweeters who can be waived and then called back as needed.
You called it - well done 👍

its not very likely unless he’s really willing to take below market value, close to what hat Wheeler got.

I think what dru has done has been good, based on the salary cap crunch he created, but I do hope that drury isn’t done for the summer. Personally I’d want to create some more competition in camp and try to bring in a couple of more guys like P Suter, Yamamoto, guriyanov, sundvist, comtois etc… to similar 800k deals. Assuming the longer FA goes on they won’t be cashing in, and will really push the bottom 6 to be potentially being better and if none making it over what we’ve done, let them hit the waiver wire.

I wouldn't mind some additional depth but I think once we sign Miller and Laf we are pretty much maxed out. Maybe space for Kane later in the season when he's back from injury.
