In 2 years they can get out from under the veterans and theyll still have their #1 & #2 OA drafted players under the age of 25 and the goalie (if he wants to stay). The team shouldnt be catering to a bunch of veterans who have flamed out in the playoffs every year theyve made it.
Just simply not the case- your never ending timeline is based on total hypothetical ideas that the Rangers will dispose of contracts that allow them to squire the missing pieces that will Somehow all gel. You can’t got 2 years down the line with this core and somehow up they get better. The time is now but I get why you don’t trust this core- neither do I but my point is the timeline is not indefinite!

Barring something crazy, I think the next coach will be our coach for a long time simply for the fact Drury can't risk drawing the eye of Sauron any further.

So he is going to pick someone where the coach is going to be in sync with him and his moves.

Harder to make an old dog learn new tricks so I think he'll actually go with someone who he can groom for the forseeable future. Whether that be Knoblauch, Leach, etc. I think it would be a newer coach.

The next coach has to absolutely be the right coach because there isn't any margin for error anymore. And if he isn't the right fit, we're going to be stuck with him for a while regardless.

Drury should hire these 2 just to piss off Rangers fans some more.

maybe I’m misremembering but doesn’t the Laf situation remind people of Sam Bennet? Wasn’t put into a position to succeed, fans thinks he’s a bust cause he’s playing bottom 6 and hasn’t proven anything yet,. Then he gets traded to fl, put in better situation and has 49 pts in 71 games his first year, then 40 in 63. Granted he was older when drafted, and he wasn’t 1st overall but 4th overall so huge difference there /s/ and laf has had more points per season at his age then bennet did until the trade

What mobile LHD or RHD would be available?

Dropped the ball on Chychrun.
Missed a simple trade for Valimaki.

There's gems available but we never seem shrewd enough to land them.

I brought it up before. I think he could easily become that type of player. He has to physically develop though and buy into it.

To be in the mold of a Tkachuk/Bennett. They have skill but they are relentless, hard working skill. It's hard to be relentless if you're out of shape.

He cant be the only one out of shape. I wonder who else on the team. Fox to me looked a little slow at times. Maybe he was out of shape. I hope we get a Torts style of coach that demands to be in shape for a physical skating and hustling style of hockey

As an aside, Panarin is the type of player who doesn’t really need high end skill players to play with him. His best seasons came with Strome and Fast. It wouldn’t be THAT difficult to find a Fast replacement. Hell, even just sign Fast. Blackwell played well there too.

I’ll say this, if the Rangers can have Panarin produce with lower cost guys, it frees up the other lines to be something like:

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kaako
Kreider-Trochek/Chytil-Trochek/Chytil

Panarin-_______-________

Fast
Blueger
Brown
Garland (if he is bought out)
Bjugstad
Hathaway

Would Arizona trade Hayton? He was available last offseason. He’d be a good candidate.

Will Montreal buyout Dvorak? He’d be a similar low-cost filler there.

I was talking more about top4 D?

Ghost could be a fine plug for a year or two. Maybe it allows KAM to pair up with Fox and Ghost with Trouba? Lindgren Schneids as the 3rd pair

Yup - and now Chicago gets Bedard after a dynasty. They’ll probably win another cup before we do
They dont have a 1st line yet, but Bedard after Kane is good planing. They org. knows when to be a really bad hockey team. We are like 3-4 years too early rebuild - so now we might need go full rebuild until they figure out the new superstar hockey player.

Somewhat due to the lack of production. Laf was much older in his draft year than Bennett and always struck me as someone who matured early compared to his peers. Bennet, on the other hand, couldn't even do a single pull-up at his combine. Wasn't shocked to see him break out later with a change of scenery.

If we know anything about nhl gm’s and rangers gm’s specifically, theyre a reactionary bunch.

What will drury be reacting to this summer? Two things imo

1) our inability to breakout of our own end. Which is I think Zac Jones is a lock to make the team.

2) speed. We looked slow all year and especially vs the devs. Its why I think its a foregone conclusion motte is re-signed and why i believe it quite likely that jesper fast comes home even at the expense of having to trade lindgren and replacing his $3mm cap hit with Mikkola on a 2.25mm cap hit

What do you guys think fast and mikkola will fetch?

Mikkola 4 years $2.25AAV?
Fast 3 years $2AAV?

Laff-mika-kakko
Panarin-chytil-fast
Kreider-trocheck-vesey
Cuylle-bjugstad-motte
(Motte will inevitably be out for 10 games at which time you call up sykora for a short stint. Let othmann bake in hartford for a year)

Jones-trouba

Is it possible that both McDavid and Bedard force their way to NYR this offseason?
