Can’t see them moving ullmark, but swayman is a possibility.
Lindholm is making a bunch but he’s also perfect for that system

Never gonna get from Ullmark what he just gave you, but at 24, Swayman has already demonstrated a consistent. 910+ save percentage.

Swayman is absolutely capable of winning and if they move the kid and keep Ullmark, they will regret that very quickly

The rangers have to be the only team to trade for a 4th line player back to back trade deadlines and not actually sign the player.

I get we didn’t give up a lot to acquire but it is a waste of assets

Like Copp? Vatrano? Motte? Braun? Kane? Tarasenko? Mikkola?

When Drury rents, he rents!

I like Motte the player. I think he's tenacious on the puck, good on the PK, good at stealing pucks and pretty physical. In saying that, he's not going to be worth the extra $500k he may be demanding over someone closer to $800k.

I don't even fault Motte. He's a guy whose body probably won't allow for him it playing hockey into his late 30's and after taxes and agent fees, he's not making THAT much.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves as well. The throwing away of assets is ludicrous

I am significantly surprised that teams who find a good 4th or 3rd line player that they absolutely love haven't begun offering 'retirement' contracts to some of these guys. By this I mean:

Say the Rangers LOVE Acciari and have for a while. Other teams are offering 2 years x $1.5m. What is to stop Drury from offering 7 years @ $900k. Acciari gets a guaranteed $6.3m, of which, he may not be in the NHL for some of it based on his style of play but, at that point, the Rangers waive him therefore there is no penalty on the cap.

I said similarly for someone like Reaves last year. Drury should have given him a 3 year extension, not 1, but at $1m. If his play drops off, waive him. Then his cap hit is either gone or someone claims him.
Extending the cap hits out isn't a problem when they are below the minimum threshold that can be buried.

Of course the team would need to be cognizant of the 50 contract rule but let's be honest, that's not exactly hard. The Rangers have guys like Lindbom signed to NHL deals...

The penny-grubbing owners would never agree to offer double the total value for players of that caliber.

This is sad. To them it's peanuts.
Especially when you consider that you're just giving the next guy $1.5 x 2 in two years, and then the next guy $2 x 2 after inflation which costs you a grand total of $8m instead of $6.3m. Somebody has to take that roster spot.

What you're proposing actually makes a ton of sense but it smells if you don't think about it critically.

Most of the guys around now inherited money and don't actually think critically about it. They never had to.

Zadina who proved nothing on the 2ed line. I rather give Othmann or Cuylle that chance. Zadina is a bust.

He was injured last season, came back towards the end of the year and couldn't find a spot in the lineup. He was bounced between LW and RW. I wouldn't call him a 'bust'. He also knows and has proven to play well with Chytil

Not a fan of his at all. Rather give Rangers prospects a chance over reclamation projects

Motte has reached Justin Williams levels of overrated folk hero on here.

He is in the media, but on here I think it's rational. He represents something the team lacks, can bring it for next to nothing, and yet we continue to not sign him.

In the meantime, Goodrow continues to get paid 3x what Motte would to bring maybe 10% more qualities to the roster.

I like Zadina for a Chytil linemate. We need RW depth. Maybe Detroit would retain $500-750k AAV for the right throw-in.

Zadina proved nothing on a line with less talent than our 3rd line.
Dude has always had a shot, and he can hustle and has some speed. Add him to Chytil and Panarin and I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a 30 goal scorer at under 2m.

Motte values salary over location. I understand and respect that. However, it means we could only overpay to get him. No thanks.

Re: Goodrow, please allow Drury to make one mistake without requiring him to make more.
