I want no part of pacioretty rehabbing on our dime.
I doubt he even plays this season.
He already had the surgery and is rehabbing. Duclair had the same surgery on July 2nd last year and was back in February.

We don’t have cap space and need cost-effective talent. Why isn’t it worth the risk for one or two years? He’s eligible for a bonus-laden deal that makes it easier to navigate the cap. Connor Brown does too.

I'm sure Lavi likes or prefers certain guys. Can see Hathaway or Eller for the bottom6.

Can they afford Hathaway? Would not mind Hathaway. Eller maybe 5 years ago. I think he is on the downside of his career. Imagine if the Rangers dealt for Tom Wilson if Caps retained 50 % 😂. Wayne Simmonds to NYR lol he played for Laviolette

they can afford him. We could get 2-3 strong bottom6 players from Goodrow's salary.

Drury is unhinged

I wouldn’t mind moving up in the draft but we already have 1/2 OA picks being used wrong and other 1sts being used wrong or no spot to play them.

The problem with trading Lindy is that the D market is so thin this year that it's unlikely you will save cap by moving him, although it also means you'd get a solid trade return.

But say we trade Lindy and then make another trade for a Hanifin rental. It's going to cost us an additional ~$2M in cap unless we pay more in the trade for retention. Seems like there's little point in not just running it back with Lindy this year and figuring out his long-term future next offseason since he's RFA.

Duclair is 27.
Pachioretty is 34.

And also remember he was recovering from a torn achillies, and then tore it again.

You can say he had the same surgery duclair had, but duclair didnt need the same surgery twice.
I dont think he ever comes back to even close to 100%.

If the Rangers move up into the top 10 that would rule. I hope its a good blindside. I wonder what Drury has up his sleeve.
Theres no way we do that without sacrificing one of Chytil/laf/kakko/miller/schneider.

And unless we somehow got into the top 3, none of the other players are ready for the NHL so we sacrificed this season for future seasons potential.

Also in terms of cost, the predators cant even seem to break into the top 10, and theyve got far more draft capital than we do.

Damn. How the f*** did that happen? Like all the sudden? Not a single person was reporting about this and every reputable news outlet had huge jumps coming. Now out of f***ing nowhere there is only a 5% increase, regardless of revenue?

Who is doing the math for this league? I don't trust anything they say about their revenue since it is all done by their internal team. Only place in sports where 2+2 equals less money for the players. Haha
It's in the memorandum of understanding for the CBA extension which was done nearly two years ago.

The contract they gave him was probably about a $1.5-2 million/year overpay plus the NMC. I know it becomes a limited NTC next summer. The contract itself was a NMC clause (who, at that time, was trading for that without retention?) I get he only wanted to play for the Rangers, mostly because of his wife's career.

He's had moments, shielded Fox, but as an individual player, I think more was expected, or maybe I expected more. Is he a top pairing d'man in general? On this team he is, but long term, I think Miller takes over that spot in the near future (this upcoming season or next) to go with Fox.
Also, the contract is only bad because covid froze the cap, we should be sitting close to 100 mill by now.

Sure but there’s a difference between at most a 9-10 days away from home at a time, and 4 months apart with a few sporadic reunions.

Also with young kids it’s not like she can just fly to every game.
Would you do it to add a couple mill a year to your next contract...most would
