Vesey and Cuylle ideally should be on the 4th line. Throw a center in between them
3rd line for Cuylie

kid line = 1
Kreid - Zib = Othmann = 2
Cuy - Tro - humiliated bread = 3
Good - Brod - Vesey = 4

Devils have way too many players making a ton of money that are bad in the playoffs. That’s going to be what kills them
to quote a phrase from original Star Trek

Die, die, die

All of you die
horribly

Can we homegrow some of our 4th line players instead of giving them ridiculous contracts to come here?
I miss the days of drafting Dom Moore and trading for a young Brian Boyle. Any of these type of players available. Maybe Edstrom can be that? How is he on faceoffs???

Ducks have almost 40m in free cap, few FAs
Can actually swallow all of bread no retention

Panarin + Strome = functioning combo w/chemistry 3ish yrs, works if they stay
could be profit if dealt as a pair

Panarin + Lindgren + NYR 2023 + 2024 + 2025 1sts
for
ANA 2023 + 2024 _ 2025 2nds + Drew Helleson + BOS 2023 2nd

5 assets for 5 assets
ANA upgrades picks 3 yrs, NY still gets a lesser pick
Helleson = 2nd round 47 OA elc righty shot RD at 6'3 205

obv this is bread + 1sts for 2nds
and Lindy for DH + a 2nd

deal gives ANA upside, immediate benefit but also rejuvenates from standpoint of Lindgren as younger replacement for Fowler if they take a haul on him
+ like I said, maximizes Strome + Panarin

deal gives a solid righty RD prospect
Fox Trouba Schneider
but as soon as this kid is ready,, he goes to 3RD
and if we still have Trouba -- who = emergency reserve D -- his regular gig becomes 4RW

Rs get 14 ish m cap relief
after showcasing Zac Jones
forced to develop Robbie + Scanlin

kid line = 1
Kreid - Zib - Othmann = 2
Cuylie - Tro - Bro = 3
Goodrow - Korczak - Vesey = 4
showcase Korc flip w/a 3rd to get a 2nd or a without for a replacement 3rd
let's see which of our bigger Fs can step up

if Tara wants 1 yr cheap 3m ok as stopgap, but no long term contract
expect he declines

Kane, we wait and see
if he's lost interest w/bread banished, fine by me

If this goes thru I bypass Boardies nom for NYR consultancy [that's a joke btw]
ARE YOU LISTENING, JIMMY D???????????????

You will want to live in the real world where something like that won’t happen

The Rangers cannot and should not be signing players like Hathaway and Fast if they want more than $1 million. Even if they have no intention of bringing back Tarasenko, it makes no sense to eat up valuable cap space in 3rd/4th line role players. Everyone has packed Goodrow’s bags and then you are immediately ready to go spend that freed up cash on similar players who have accomplished less…

Likely accurate and the team would agree

Probably hoping they can get deals on some guys and go like 1.5 max on shorter deals

Who skates best out of guys like Eller , Nosek,Nieto , C.Smith, Sundkvist , Nyqvist

I’d like C Brown for RW but he may get a descent contract

I think there’s a mechanism for them to change that number so theoretically it could be a larger increase than that but I’m certainly going to need to see it to believe it. It’s so f***ing stupid though, I thought the cap was supposed to be tied to revenues, but now that’s out the window too?
Do you believe the NHL is agreeing to that? No. The NHL could have agreed to increase the cap more than $1M this summer.

If the Rangers aren’t going to sign Tarasenko, they should trade his rights
What rights? UFA rights?

Why would any GM give up a very late pick, for the chance to propose a contract, just couple of days before free agency starts.

Tara's agent probably has 7 offers already and people outbidding themselves.

He already underwent the hip resurfacing (like Backstrom and Kane), and his eye injury was so bad, they nearly removed it. Right now, he can't dilate the eye.

He only skated 1 day in April, picture day for the Caps.

The guy is an absolute fitness freak (just remembering his stadium stair run habit), but both are too much for a player who will be 35 in August. Would welcome him with open arms in player development.

More info on his injuries:

If he skated in April, he's skating now.

A PTO hurts no one. If he can get back to being an NHL player, great. If not, nothing lost. If he's 80% of what he was on an 800K contract then he fits a dire need for the Rangers and can certainly slot up if need be. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

His playoffs took the shine off. Spent the whole Rangers series diving around doing nothing. Trouba wrecked him. Scored 1 goal all playoffs. He’s lucky Panarin stunk to take the heat off, lol.

Devils locked into a soft core forever. I’m sure the doomspreaders will tell me I should be scared of them but we gifted them the series then they got worked by a team with structure. They don’t hand out anything for that.

The Jimmy Vesey Memorial Award. I would love this. But can he still skate?
Devs are going to be an interesting case study. They really have locked up a soft core long term.

If they go into next season looking like

Palat-Nico-Bratt
Meier-hughes-haula
Holtz-mcleod-mercer
Foote-Lazar-bastian

Hughes-Hamilton
Siegenthaler-Marino
Smith-Nemec

Itll be a highly skilled lineup but really just lacks size. Very tiny.

Disagree. You need a competent 3rd and 4th line in this league.

Hathaway brings a lot to the table. Hes a TREMENDOUS skater, has good size, is a total pain in the ass to play against, fits lavi’s system.

He gets 4 X $2 according to capfriendly and i do that all day.

The below is an ideal opening night lineup. Then add a piece at the TDL. Cap hits derived from AFP

Motte 1 C $1.04
Hathaway at 4 X $2
Acciari at 2 X $1.5
Trade goodrow for a pick

You can find competent 3rd and 4th liners for $1 million or less. This is legitimately banana land that we are moving Goodrow, who a majority have complained about his salary since Day 1, and then we are giving Garnett Hathaway $2 million AND playing him on the 3rd line. That is banana land. Free Agency is full of competent 3rd and 4th line role players. Be calculated. Save the money to put towards a quality middle 6 winger.

That lineup you posted is underwhelming.

Why does everyone want Engvall? I assume non of you have watched him with the leafs, after he got traded wasn't what he really is. He's a street bums version of Chytil
Yea he sucks, no thanks, I listen to the Overdrive pod pretty frequently and they were always bashing him

It happens more than you think especially if a team is really hot for a player and wants first crack at it without competing offers, pretty sure it’s what we did with Goodrow if I’m not mistaken

Hathaway is a great fit in just thinking someone overpays

I assume he played for Lavy so that may help recruit him

Acciari same deal . Anything over 2 million won’t fit

Hathaway on opening night on the 3rd line is fine. At the TDL you acquire 2 pieces and move cuylle and hathaway down to the 4th line.

The same people will then complain when we cheap out on the 3rd line, “thats just two 4th lines lol”

Afp has hathaway at 4 X $2 and acciari at 2 X $1.5. Afp is deadly accurate

No it doesn't.

Staple suggesting Connor Brown as an option on the Athletic. I know very little about him outside of the teams he's played for. Laviolette had him last year for 4 games before he got injured though. Buy low candidate i guess
