Aside from the fact that we don't need a 2nd line center, Nashville cleared 4 mil with that deal, which they wouldn't do if we traded them Goodrow.
The bigger question is why are they clearing cap space here.
Galchyenuk is bad, and no one thinks that this is a value for value move. But this was them clearing cap.
So whats Nashville doing.

Brown is eligible for a performance bonus contract. He spent 100 days or more on long term IR. His contract projection is 1 year/$2M from Evolving Hockey. A team could offer $1M in salary for 23-24 and $1M performance bonus which can roll over into 24-25. Brown is rumored to be joined the Oilers because he played with McDavid in junior hockey. The only concern about Brown is the ACL. It takes a while before the player is 100%. He may be 100% healthy but that is a tough injury to come back from and he will probably be better in 24-25.

Yeah the ACL is concerning. We just went through that with Blais, who didnt start looking like the player he was until a year and a half after the injury. If they want to go low risk high reward on an injured guy, they should call up Patches. He is a local CT guy and if my memory serves he grew up a Ranger fan.

Do not over spend on ANYBODY, if you can help it
exceptions to every rule but that should be the rule
At this point, agree. We have to commit to the young players and make sure they're all signed. We have no extra space to work with really because we have Panarin, Kreider, Trouba, etc all locked in and basically un-movable.

My hope is we trade Goodrow and fit Othamm and Cyulle in and whatever holes are left fill with what we have or maybe get someone from the bargain bin.

yeah he didn't produce yet he still bodybagged us. he drove possession at 64%. 4% better than anyone else in the whole series. you know how we couldn't score for shit? it was because Timo Meier had the puck. not really his fault that Igor was unbelievable.

He didnt do anything against Carolina either

You get Panarin to play WITH Forsberg and Josi not FOR one of them. Forsberg is 28 and Josi is 33, so their window to win with those players is open now and closing in a few seasons.
Their window is closed. They've said they're rebuilding.

I dont disagree, especially for rights to a guy they werent gonna pay money for.
The question is why did the preds ship salary out. They have cap space.
Maybe they're cooking another deal? Draft coming up this week, so hopefully we see more movement.

Thats my thought.
They're rebuilding so they should want prospects, to move a player without getting any real asset back (looking like a pure cap dump) has to indicate something big following up.

Maybe Nylander?
Not sure. Nylander doesn't feel like it fits their time frames.
He's UFA next year, unlikely to stick around in nashville, and scary enough, if he got big minutes he might actually carry them to more wins then they'd like.
Nylander and forsberg on a line, with soros in net. They could win a few more games than nashville would like.

Didn't Trotz say in an interview that he was looking to add big money players to help build a high octane offense for Brunette? He must be clearing cap space for someone with a high AAV.
I dont remember him saying that. I remember him saying he wanted his scouts to look for guys with high end ability that couldn't be taught. that they can teach how to be a hockey player, but that dangles and high end shots cant be taught.

Duclair for Goodrow. Florida can buyout Goodorw and get a cap credit if they want, or flip him to make the money work in a trade for defense (they are in on Hanifin and Karlsson with injuries to Ekblad and Montour)

I think there will be some wheeling and dealing this week and the Rangers can benefit from it.

Maybe JTM then

Maybe JTM then
I mean but why JTM? I get that vancouver needs the space, but unless their adding 11oa I can't see the pred's making that, and vancouver just bought out OEL so they're not desperate for cap space anymore.

The preds have basically said they're rebuilding.
JTM isn't terrible from a tanking perspective, but he's also locked in for 7 more years.
They'd want someone who's cap comes off the books as they're starting to turn the corner.

Why do people bring Edström, a guy who’s played a whopping 3 games in Hartford, as a legit option?

Is it because he’s 6’6? It has to be cause it makes no sense otherwise lmao
Many reasons:

-He's a great skater for a big man
-Physical
-He's 22 not 19 or 20 so he has the man strength that Othmann and Cullye do not yet have
-Played the pro game for a few years in Sweden
-Versatile at all three forward positions although a natural winger
-Defensively responsible
-Already had the tools (PKer) to be a bottom 6er
-Untapped offensive potential

He actually played 8 games if you count the 5 in the playoffs. Was a + player and yes we all know +/- is an overrated stat.

So is he a lock to make the team? Of course not. If he does the work this summer and makes himself noticeable to Peca and Muse, they may vouch for him as someone they can work with,

They have like 6 forwards under contract. They need people badly.

That's why I suggested Goodrow to the Avs for two late round hope picks.
They need value though, they have to lock up byram, and theres the following year if landi manages to make a recovery.
