Howden is a good example of a player the rangers just didn’t have patience with. He’s the kind of guy you want the team to develop. To fill a role inexpensively. And they clearly let him go too soon. Not that he’s a “long term piece” but the better franchises fill these secondary roles with homegrown guys or - like Vegas in this case - young guys the pro scouts identify on other teams’ rosters and get them for peanuts.

Surely Boston won’t be giving him away. Or have I missed something?

Howden had plenty of opportunities. He was a guy that was rushed and should have played AHL minutes.

Needed to go and figure it out elsewhere

Elliotte Friedman was talking about Dubois on 32T. Jeff Marek brings up other teams besides Montreal. Elliotte said Montreal is still the top team on the list. It's Montreal #1 and the other teams are not even 2nd. Darren Dreger discussed Dubois on his podcast and on a Vancouver show. Dubois wants to play in Montreal. Dreger brought up the no tax state U.S. teams but Montreal is still the top team.

New York is not a very appealing place to play. New York City has become a cesspool. We have gone backwards. The city is awful. The homeless people are everywhere. The taxes are high.

Yea he was still young, Rangers and we the fans showed no patience at all with him. Same thing is happening now with Lafreniere and Kakko. Everyone (Rangers, fans, media) wants instant results but that's not realistic. Howden is going to be a solid middle six guy moving forward. His confidence grew. He's a gamer. He's doing it on the biggest stage now.

The Rangers organization needs a complete reset on its mentality and philosophy. It would help if Drury's regime would communicate anything with its fans. What's their plan, what's their philosophy. All we know is the haphazard moves he's makes, it doesn't look like there's any real plan or model. He's just throwing poop at a wall to see what sticks. From an outside perspective.

How much is Mikkola going to get ?

Have to find a depth Dman at a reasonable cap hit . Maybe even 2 reclamation projects

If Frédéric gets to UFA I imagine a team looking to get to the floor can give him a huge contract. Don't get into that bidding war.

What’s the arbitration number?
If it’s like 2 ish Rangers may try and make it work but I don’t get why Boston gives up on him

They likely move a D and a Hall

In G they have a top 3 best in the world

On D the plan is physical D like Lindgren , Trouba , Schneider . Fox and Miller more skilled

Upfront some of the best in Mika, Bread.
Kreider is a leader
Trotchek also fits in the room
Chytil , Laf, Kakko youth they need to take a step

You can complain about the bottom 6 but there’s a plan

Goodrow was brought in to lead
The cap not going up screws the plan but the whole league has to deal with it

Brodzinski is better than stepan as an example. Brodzinski isnt an awful center. I watch a good amount of pack games and hes everywhere. Hes also the captain down there and played on a line with cuylle last year and they were the packs best duo of forwards. So thats not an issue.

Stepan would be my 5th-6th option as a 4C league minimum however the only thing Brodz has over him is speed. Brodz has faded every time he's brought up. He's a fine 13th forward/injury depth piece, not an every day NHLer.

He's going to get a lot more than we can afford, that's for sure.
He gone.

don’t want to be the team to pay him 8M or more anyway.

With this news that Garland is a “negative asset”, do the Canucks accept Goodrow in a trade for him straight up? That opens 1.4M on the cap for them and gives them a versatile bottom six player. They could probably move Goodrow again themselves if they wanted to.

Garland seems like an ideal player to put on Panarin’s line.

I doubt they want to take on Goodrow, plus he has extra year on his contract. Garland would be a great fit for sure though.

Chytil needs to stay healthy but he’s a 60 point player easily if he keeps progressing. I agree on Dubois though. Drury hasn’t made a big move to put his mark on the team yet. Dubois is the type of player and age that would be interesting.
60 points is a reach for someone who does not get a lot of assists for a center. Not the ideal play maker type at the center position.

I keep seeing Twitter nerds posting somethings happening

Motte resign? That’s all I could see this early

But yet you could not post a link lol I smell bs. Is it that hard to post a link to something you or someone read. Wow really lazy lol

everyone complaining for 2 months that we dont have any "playoff type" players and now you all want DUBOIS? lol. he's as soft as it gets mentally.

He would fit with Panarin oh wait 😂 i rather go after someone like a Bennett oh wait they had that chance 😂

That's why a lot of UFAs don't want to come up here. It was especially apparent in the pandemic.

They'll leave money on the table to play in a very populated area that isn't as comfortable or warm as somewhere else.

NY sports owners need to get their heads out of their, you know. The whole NY lore appeal isn't what it was.

Not every player wants a bit city experience. Some players want to play out west more than in the East.....some like the idea of one day playing for their favorite team when they were a kid. Some like more outdoor out in the wild activities. A lot of players just stick as long as they can with the team that team that drafted them or who they first got a real chance with. I've never noticed though the Rangers not being able to bring in big market players either in trades or free agency. Kane wanted to come here over anywhere else. Tarasenko seemed more than happy to join the Rangers. Our ability to afford their next contracts is more the reason why we probably won't re-sign either. We've always done much better than most teams keeping in mind whatever cap issues we have. You can deflect from what you personally see in your own life but your own reality isn't necessarily someone else's and a young hockey player usually does not look at the world in the same ways as an older adult. When I was in my 20's practically the last thing I worried about was looking at the crime rate. I was more interested in the opportunities to get out and do things.

I was one of the few here that preached patience with Howden and Barron. This organization needs to realize that until kids get their man strength they can't compete at the nhl level, thats all thats happened with both those players.

I tend to disagree. Remember most of these NHL prospects don't have to worry about dating. A majority are already very serious with their blonde g/fs they've been with since HS (we joke about the hockey wife look on these boards a lot).

Small real estate, the winter months get very very taxing. 100+ year old crowded subways.

I'll give you the restaurants.

Dating in NY is a cesspool. It's a job interview 2.0.

There are a lot of finance jobs in this region but what modern advantage does New York have in the era of Zoom and social media? Because Frank Sinatra sang some song, pizza, or cool stuff happened years ago?

It has it's moments however the "this is New York" lore doesn't mean anything anymore.

You think multimillionaire professional athletes are relying on the subway and worried about the winter?
