I like Howden a lot u guys are nuts. Plenty of upside there. He’s a bottom 6 center for sure.

People sing hosannas about McKegg. McKegg has fought hard in training cap to take a spot so it's not my intention to crap on him but he's also 6 years older than Howden and has 24 points in 132 NHL games compared to Howden who has 23 in 66. People who bitch about Howden's offensive issues should take a more objective look at McKegg.

Anyway I'm wondering whether the Rangers are signing Haley for real. The other thing is of all the players who were sent down the one who did the most to earn a spot IMO was Ryan Lindgren. I like how he plays. He's not fancy but he plays within his limitations and he plays hard and with determination. I actually liked him more than Hajek in this camp who also played pretty well.

Yes - it's what @Trxjw is short for

Lies.

We've (ahem, I've) discovered the real meaning of his name.

He runs a booty workout. The man's a (junior) Fitness Freak. For booty's.

Just listened to Gorton

Haley got a 2 way deal and he talked about maybe tomorrow there’s only 21 here and just liked having him in the organization. Hardly a ringing endorsement that he’s here to steal anyone’s mins.

Haley was solid for San Jose last year I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t give him a 2 way deal. Could be in Hartford tomorrow

Don't want haley but it is what it is with how tough some of the teams in the east are. Also, I kind of agree with the thought that Lindgren was better than hajek. Hajek got lit up a few times in preseason. Felt like prucha was on the ice again.

McKegg is a guy who just feels like such a typical story.

A journeyman forward, fighting for his NHL existence, who doesn't do anything exceptionally bad, but doesn't do anything exceptionally well either. They seem to play their best hockey in the preseason, appear in 50-60 some odd NHL games, and within a year or two are playing in Europe.

In the end you almost forget they were there, save for the discussions where people discuss really wanting to see a player that has a chance to be more of a long-term part of the team.

So McKegg is Paul Carey is Kris Newbury is sometimes John Mitchell is Patrick Rissmiller, etc. etc.

You don't hate 'em, you don't love 'em, they're just there.

Anyone else notice Jet fans on the mainboard and their board say they dodged a bullet with Trouba because of his supposed bad contract.....they are paying a replacement player $3M a year in Pionk..

Please tell me Lindgren gets first crack if there becomes an opening on defense (for whatever reason) during the year?!?! I would prefer Smith gets a forward look. Will not be happy if he slots in before Lindgren on defense

Loving the Haley signing, suprised Morrow didn't get an offer as well. Thought Boo would make the team based on his performance as the 4th line C...Also suprised Kakko wasn't heading to Hartford with the other two schlubs... Really looking forward to the NHL allstar game :sarcasm:

Rykovs health will likely have something to do with that too.

Not a fan of Pionk's d play but would you be shocked if Trouba and Pionk finish relatively close in point production (+/- 5-10 points). I am sure that will give Jets fans who want to convey that narrative plenty of ammo.

I think that depends on how Rykov plays in the AHL (I assume that is where he is going???). Lindgren had a real nice preseason. No fault of Rykov's but he wasn't able to show what he had in preseason. In fact Carpiniello says he's still hurt.

I'd be surprised, but maybe not 'shocked'.

If he's the 1RD and PP1 QB in the 'Peg....then they are pretty much f***ed....who cares about his point totals vs Trouba's at that point, they are gonna be missing the playoffs by a lot.

I agree point totals is far from everything i'm just saying be prepared for the narrative of Pionk is better at 3 mil or whatever than Trouba for 7 years 8 million per.

Are we second in waiver priority due to the draft? Or is it based on your actual record?

Actual record based on league standings. CBA page 80 (Article 13.19):

"before November 1st then the priority shall be determined by the final standing in the League's Regular Season schedule in the preceding Regular Season. "

*Just an FYI but waiver priority doesn't change based on teams successfully making a claim. That's just in fantasy sports ;) In reality, the lowest ranked team always hs the highest waiver priority regardless of how many players they claim

I definitely loved Johnny Malkin, though I can't remember if it was only for the name.

Someone explain why Nikolay Goldobin would not be a good waiver wire pick up for this team.

He's like Vlad Namestnikov without the positional flexibiltiy to line up at center., a very meh player....he's really not worth making a roster spot even if it's just a Haley/McKegg you waive.

He will, and JG alluded to it.

That said, There's not much chance that we regularly field 3 rookies on defense on a regular basis, unless Fox just makes an unreal quick adjustment.

So if we see Lindgren I'd expect it will be either for short injury stints, or in relief of Hajek.

Where have I heard this before?

Second straight season we come into the year with this hanging over the team.

Oh well. Hanging over our heads last year with Hayes... it brought back a first and a young solid long term third liner option, and resulted in us tanking hard enough to get the 2nd overall pick.

Hope that exact outcome happens again.
