Practicing today with an Overload PP? Genius.

If this is to counter Carolinas PK? Great. If it's our new look? no bueno.

Maybe we should practice breakouts? transition? We were drowning all game

At least we finally stacked the PP as we should. Chytil and Laffy have been rough lately...

That Top unit is stacked. Can either be amazing or too many chefs in the kitchen.

Panarin is the obvious choice in the bumper spot, but I guess that thing about the inmates.

There's a lot of talent on that unit, but it looks like no one wants to play in the bumper spot. Zibanejad has played in that spot before, but he's by far our top PP weapon, and you should not move the guy that is scoring all of your PP goals off his spot. Kane and Panarin are both at their best with the puck on their stick, and the player in the bumper does not get much time with the puck. So if Kane and Panarin both want to be on PP1 and neither want to play in the bumper, then we have to move away from what is considered to be the only PP formation worth using at the NHL level to accommodate them. Maybe Gallant is letting them give it a try so they can see it doesn't work before he moves Trocheck or Chytil up to PP1 and goes back to the 1-3-1.
I think you're right and Gallant is going to give them some games to figure it out.

Yeah we never had a UFA who consistently up great numbers. Gaborik who is the only comparable skill-wise had 1 or 2 good seasons with us before going downhill.
And he wasn't even a UFA signing!

Panarin has had his best seasons point wise with the Rangers. In the shortened season he was pacing for a bit over 100 points. He should get to 90 this season as well.

Even if you ignore the fact that 10 games is a tiny sample size (against mostly non-playoff opposition at that) come next TDL instead of looking for 3LD you’d be looking and paying in draft capital and prospects for 1LD.

I beg to differ I don’t think u need a star next to a Norris winner. Tampa was a good example of that ar again beukeboom was nothing special himself. 10 games is not nothing and they were getting better and better as it went along.

Mika was EIGHTH in pp time. What a stupid experiment and waste of precious time that two powerplay nonsense was. Just asinine.

I think this is finally the Leaves year to make a run. Variance is on their side and they finally have an adult in the room with ROR. It also helps that they are the team I feel the best about the Rangers beating in the ECF (even if I think Tampa is getting by on their reputation more than substance this season)
Tampa has Vasi, Toronto doesnt, huge wildcard

Maybe overload isn't the worst idea. Our 1-3-1 is stale.
I hate the 1-3-1, there's few people that are good at getting quality shots off in the bumper like Bergeron can, its almost like a wasted player imo.

I do not know what happened to Schneider's physicality. I dont doubt he will be a beast the more he matures, but he seems to be stagnating.

He's still 21 years old. That is young for a defenseman.... Ultimately should have spent time in the AHL last season
I figured he might step it up after that early fight in the season against the Bruins.....Oh well maybe in the playoffs he cranks it up a notch . We all know he can bring it and having the big Finn out there won't hurt him .

How are we rehashing the Buchnevich trade AGAIN after the week the team just had
LOL...Hodge -Middleton still gets talked about in discussion groups . In the 70's Group on Facebook it is probably in the top 10 of trades that still gets chatted up on a monthly basis . So....if Buch goes on to be highly successful....we likely will hear it forever . With regard to the Middleton deal....thankfully the Bruins never got further than a Finals either .

LTIR Lindgren until the playoffs. I was pushing for another defenseman before the deadline. We are now an injury away from playoff Hajek because we were afraid to waive Harpoon (who I like). Drury L

The 1-3-1 is not stale... our roster management is dumb.

Make an entire PP with passers then the other with shooters. It makes no sense. The stacked unit has not gotten any time together after a practice.
The overload still makes more sense for the personnel we have. Not even close.

The 1-3-1 isn't a blood oath.

Looking ahead, signing Tank is a must.

Add another physical RWer that can play with pace or let Othmann get a chance in the middle 6.

Minnesota is in a world of trouble cap wide. A player like Foligno would be perfect

Tarasenko was the missing link for this forward group. Shame the Rangers are going to be priced out.

It depends on what he wants. I do think it might either be Tank or Kane coming back, but not both. At this point, I'd probably take Tank back if it was one or the other. Unless Kane goes on LTIR next season, then maybe both are possible.

We just dont know what he wants., His impact on the ice and his actual production dont line up IMO

He's been more valuable than what his statline dictates.

Doe he take a 1 or 2 year deal around $4M? If he likes it here, I could see it.

You don't know this. The guy isn't going to get 7 mil per anymore. I still think they can get this done but it's probably going to mean trading a guy like Goodrow to make it happen.

I'd really like to see that but he's only 31 I feel like some team is going to throw a 6+m AAV at him for 3-4 years.
