NHLPA Poll results for this year: NHLPA Player Poll 2022-23

Shesterkin was voted 2nd among goalies.
Fox is 5th among defensemen.
Kane was voted best stick handler and 2nd best passer.
Panarin was the 4th best passer.
Kreider is 2nd for net game.
Zibanejad is 3rd for most underrated.
I like Patty Kane... McDavid needs to be at the front of all of these categories though. No one in the universe can stick handle like McDavid. His hands somehow get better when he's moving at max speed.

I do not know what happened to Schneider's physicality. I dont doubt he will be a beast the more he matures, but he seems to be stagnating.

He's still 21 years old. That is young for a defenseman.... Ultimately should have spent time in the AHL last season

He's unhinged since the Kane trade. Something snapped.
On Schneider, I think it's a classic case of sophomore slump and not ever playing this many games at this high a level (NHL).

Rangers should be talking 4 year deal numbas with Mikkola right now .
The 2 year deal with Harper is definitely looking like quite the steal....

Let us wait until after the playoffs before handing out anymore contracts.

He's playing well, but he isn't going to cost league min. either.

true story

I always appreciate the work that goes into these things, but there are players who just are outliers in every case.

Kane is an outlier. He can get done in 1 opportunity that other players need 6 or 7 to do and it's going to hurt his "analytics" but the end result is that he (or his line really) probably outscores the other.

Adam Herman is actually right here (I can't believe I just said that). JFresh is a slave to the numbers and thats too bad.
JFresh is doing a 3 year outlook (which is a fine thing to do) and then saying "look, but 9 games didn't move the needle!"

No shit.

It's an encouraging change, that's all.

And another miss by Drury. Played most of the year with Carpenter, Brodzinski, and all these other useless guys on the 4th line and he lost out on a quality 4C who can PK to a TV station.

The boundary between satire/sarcasm/absurdist humor and just plain absurdity has become very hazy on here.

Practicing today with an Overload PP? Genius.

If this is to counter Carolinas PK? Great. If it's our new look? no bueno.

Maybe we should practice breakouts? transition? We were drowning all game

At least we finally stacked the PP as we should. Chytil and Laffy have been rough lately...

there is the issue, if he has an amazing playoffs, he would probably price himself out, but if he was willing to do something now, the number may be more reasonable

New PP is the right one. You need one go-to unit, especially in the playoffs. PP by committee isn't going to cut it.

I can stick mikkola in his spot and rattle off an 8-2-1 stretch playing our best hockey of the year the longer he sat out. Totally replaceable
Even if you ignore the fact that 10 games is a tiny sample size (against mostly non-playoff opposition at that) come next TDL instead of looking for 3LD you’d be looking and paying in draft capital and prospects for 1LD.

There's a lot of talent on that unit, but it looks like no one wants to play in the bumper spot. Zibanejad has played in that spot before, but he's by far our top PP weapon, and you should not move the guy that is scoring all of your PP goals off his spot. Kane and Panarin are both at their best with the puck on their stick, and the player in the bumper does not get much time with the puck. So if Kane and Panarin both want to be on PP1 and neither want to play in the bumper, then we have to move away from what is considered to be the only PP formation worth using at the NHL level to accommodate them. Maybe Gallant is letting them give it a try so they can see it doesn't work before he moves Trocheck or Chytil up to PP1 and goes back to the 1-3-1.
