I posted this in the GDT, but it is probably better suited here:

The break was certainly good for the Blues. Binner is clearly riding a confidence high after the championship game and Parayko is continuing his great season after being part of Team Canada's victory. But the guys who had a couple weeks off look like the rest did wonders to get past whatever was nagging them. Buch has a goal, 4 assists, and is +5. Faulk has looked like his old self playing 21+ minutes a night in each game (with 3 assists). Sunny is skating at a near-NHL level. Leddy's played his best 3 games of the season. Neighbours has been effective as the passenger with Thomas/Buch. The special teams are clicking.

Very small sample and this team has repeatedly shown an inability to go on a streak. And having to play at Washington, vs LA, and at Dallas from Thursday-Sunday is a hell of a tough stretch. We need 3 more efforts like the 3 we just got if we're going to make this interesting.

Army loves his quote about how the players are the ones who tell the front office what to do at deadline with their play. This is the locker room's last chance to convince him to take some big names off the market (at least for now). I'm expecting to be let down like I was after the 2 Calgary wins, but I'm hoping to be surprised.

My optimism was turned up to reckless after the Colorado effort. Tight gaps and swagger.

I think it is more likely we are in the playoffs than that we are sellers now. I didn’t expect Vancouver to look so hollow.

I expected Vancouver to be a juggernaut in the next few years. Now? No.

Tight Gaps & Swagger. Sounds like a porn.

Yeah, I thought they would be contenders by now for sure. How they managed to lose Horvat, Miller, and likely soon Boeser.... Canuck fans were talking up Demko like a perennial Vezina candidate not long ago. I almost feel sorry for them and their fans.

And they have Q. Hughes as their Captain. WTF, over?

Love Hughes as a player, but as a Captain? Awful!

I was genuinely concerned with the Canucks going forward as the next team to beat in the West. Was.

I think the Canucks are fortunate in that they hadn’t mortgaged their future yet and Chytil isn’t a bad piece, just maybe isn’t ready to be a full time full load 2C today.

I think the Canucks have the firepower to reload. Maybe it takes a year or two? Probably a little disruptive to move a guy like miller and a guy like Boesser. Seems like a lot of their defense is great, minus present injuries, and a surplus in net. Maybe a good offseason for Petterson will change that entire scenario too.

You maybe think the process takes a bit but I bet they’ll be a headache again soon. They shouldn’t have to tear it down? Idk. Guess we will see.

I dunno if he's a bad choice per se because I don't know much about his personality. He does seem to be a quiet guy, but on podcasts al of his teammates really look up to him and respect him. JT Miller would have been a choice as captain, but he might be a bit too much. But they might need to look elsewhere for leadership than Hughes and Pettersson, who seems fragile on and off the ice. But man, Hughes is something to watch.

Dude is gifted. Hoping Luke busts out. I was dead wrong about Jack and am happy for that. I was keying on Jack during the season he signed the massive extension and was coming back from injury. Not impressed, but his body of work since is excellent.

Also, who am I to say Quinn is an awful captain? JT would’ve been my choice regardless of how others are affected by him. He’s kind of a bitch, but so was Backes. Both tough, hard-nosed players. EP is a young man working out his emotional issues. It’s understandable, but he really needs to grab ahold right now.

The FO seemingly acquiescing to the soft Nucks players is not a good precedent to set.

Tocchet is running things, right?
