How about a young vet like Lemieux, out of LA? I bet he's a great fighter and would function as deterrent. Anybody know if he can take a draw? Might have some good scoring touch too!
he would look good as an aggressive 4th line LW!

Retaining salary on a Buchnevich extension and trade. Ideally we can retain only for the first season if that’s allowed.
That said Vegas doesn’t really need more forwards so I think they’d be more interested in Kandre Miller.
Joking aside, this is probably the correct time to try to pry one of Cody Glass or Peyton Krebs out.

I think they could 100% use another high end forward.
Zibanejad would be of great interest to them, but it'd he hard/impossible to move on from him unless we had a replacement.
If he was claimed on waivers, the acquiring team would have been on the hook for his entire contract. That’s not free.
C’mon man!
How much of that "free" contract does the team picking the player up have to pay? All of it. Not free. Picking up certain players is just absolving the team that signed them of their mistake.
Sure, it's "free" in terms of not losing assets, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a great deal.
Unless deAngelo fell off a cliff, he was/is worth his contract of 5.5 mill.
Teams decided the side show wasn't worth it.
I continue to hope he never plays in the NHL again.
With this logic, are you're arguing for Ovechkin being better than Hull, et al?
I think if you can get a 50+ point defender for free, like in Free Agency where all you do is pay salary, thats a GREAT deal.
A loss for NYR scouting dept here. Article says he will say on with NYR until August. Spent the last 3 years scouting WHL.
To expand on this, I think you HAVE to rely on the idea that Kakko and Laf at least will take significant strides forward next year and beyond when it comes to building this team for the future and you're tweaking things around the edges after that...if you're not, then the rebuild has failed. Those guys HAVE to be the players we hope they were drafted to be.
I think Chytil and Kravtsov are more in the "maybe" range of things and could be pieces moved for players(s) who bring a more physical game but I don't think the Rangers would give them away for free or anything.
I think Buch is a real good player and has more grit in his game than people give him credit for but he along with Strome could be guys the Rangers are looking to move or in the case of Strome upgrade.
So, while there are core pieces in that top six that aren't going anywhere and we're relying on top picks to get better, I think there's still some wiggle room for the Rangers to tinker with
Howe had about 17 last chances, still gram for gram one of the best relievers in his timeHe will. He's going to get one last chance.
And I'm not talking about one of those "major league baseball steve howe" last chances either.
I think they have a 50 pt D inbound from Sweden, give him a year to adjustThere's a whole lot more to that package than the simplicity you illustrate above.
Hell, if it were all lollipops and rainbows like the above I'd venture to say that that 50 point defenseman might have actually played for the RANGERS this year.
It's been reported Byfield is their only untouchable.
This is Eichel's destination, though not sure they'd be adding 2 top six guys while taking on 10 mill with most likely a prospect heavy offer on the way.
Also, for a team that has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to forward prospects, I'm having a tough time understanding their need to do this when Byfield will absolutely be a top 6 guy next year and so could others in their farm. But I guess that's what happens when you're players are publicly clamoring to compete ASAP.
Edit: just looked and they actually have a shit ton of space, but still they got a shit ton of impressive forward prospects as well.
Bummer. I'm sure he was instrumental in us drafting gems like Schneider and Robertson.
