I don't know what game Kakko is playing. He has little leverage.

Take your 2-3 year deal. Prove your worth. Get a bigger contract when the cap goes up.

You've accomplished nothing so far. This should be a slam dunk bridge... unless Drury is really lowballing him

I want to fit another car in my garage so I'm gonna take the hat off the hook and bring it inside.

Didn't the Rangers use to assign him to Hartford, just so they could deduct his salary a bit?

@JohnC wrote this in the Kakko thread, and I feel like it needs to be mentioned again here for those worried Kakko hasn't signed yet. He doesn't have any leverage, and it fits with previous Rangers RFA signings coming off of their ELCs. These things don't normally get done right away:

Some RFA signings off of their ELC:

McDonagh - 7/8/13 (7 days after UFA start)
Stepan - 9/26/13 (87 days after UFA start)
Skjei - 7/28/18 (27 days after UFA start)
Callahan - 7/13/09 (12 days after UFA start)
Dubinsky - 9/19/09 (80 days after UFA start)
DeAngelo - 9/20/19 (81 days after UFA start)

McDonagh, Skjei and Callahan were arbitration eligible.

People are melting down like we're 3 days away from the December deadline.

It's July lmao.

I think the teams biggest issue is still 2way play.

in my ideal scenario we'd get another strong middle6 center and move Chytil to RW.... but there's literally no room.

This is the team and there will be major competition at training camp

Is Detroit a possible destination for Trouba next offseason?

Miami makes some sense, as in him waiving to go there + need but cap doesn't.

Would you ever entertain trading him to the Piles?

As crazy as it sounds....he still could become a 20 goal scorer in the NHL . Look at the path of Nichushkin . Big guys can take some time as we are seeing with KK . Gauthier has the skills....myself I think it is all about the confidence for him .

He needs to reinvent himself in the same way that nichuskin did.

He has the tools to do it.

Boyle was around 26 when he scored 20 goals for us. I still think Gauthier has a chance. The physical skills are there. It needs to click mentally.

If his finishing wasn't so astonishingly bad, he'd could get that easily. He has a little Kreider-itis.. he should be bullying everyone on the ice. He at the least uses that power move

Just working on finishing his power move could net him double digit goals.

I would agree the team should look to sign a veteran d-man. Having defensive depth is key for any team and having a veteran is a good plan in general. Tinordi is already down in the AHL.

Ryan Murray
Michael Kempny
Kris Russel
Andy Greene
Keith Yandle

None of these guys should be playing every night but an injury to Trouba and Lindgren for any substantial amount of time and the depth will be needed. Unless we want to throw Jones to the wolves on the PK as well...

They should 100% bring in a vet 7th dman, Libor Hajek is one of the worst dmen in the league, I would say worst, but we also have Tinordi so I will let it slide for Libor.

Also, the Rangers got very lucky last season, 78 each for Fox and Lindgren, 81 games for Trouba and 82 for Miller, don’t just assume that will happen again.

Gauthier is one of the dumbest players I have ever seen. Carolina gave him away for good reason. 20 goals? Really easy to frisbee that out there. He’s not an NHL regular, and would bet against him having more than an extended cup of coffee going forward.

Tkachuk?

Would Dallas move Robertson in the trade?

Instead of paying Robertson, they will pay Tkachuk. There is only a one year difference between the two players. Paying both of them is nearly impossible.

Tkachuk would sign in Dallas. No state income tax. Missouri is not far.

Probably trying to survive this hundo piece.

Kane wants another big contract, he's going to Edmonton and you can bank on that, why wouldnt he? Here ya go, play with McDavid and Kane 5 on 5 then pp with Mcdavid, Kane, Draisaitl, and Bouchard/Barrie. Thanks, ill take as many points as i like and a side order of next contract money to go.

No more D. Time for Zach/Nils to get their chance in the NHL. Let them and Libor battle it out at camp.

The Rangers top 4 D is very young, but they’ve got experience now. Miller needs a bigger role and they need to spread the ice time more evenly
