Advanced stats are not yet advanced enough to truly comprehend Kravtsov's game.

The issue isn’t just making him waive.

You have to find a team that’s interested in him, has the cap space to afford him, and then overcoming that NMC. Trouba’s also a good player so Drury isn’t going to move him for nothing.
Trouba would garner interest tho, no doubt about that part. The cap hit is the main problem, and the return would likely be underwhelming. OEL to Vancouver is probably a good comparison, but Trouba would be more interesting to teams as he is younger, and with the cap supposed to go up the following year (24-25) it could open up the market further.

I’m sure he will, but I don’t think that window realistically opens up for a couple more seasons.

I mean I’m sure if Trouba is told “we waive you or you pick a couple teams you want to go to” he may play ball.

Worst case scenario it can come to that. I hope it doesn’t

Okay but Guhle is a better asset than most of those named. If not all of them. You get Guhle in and then you trade from your surplus. Let’s you cut cap that way too

Yeah, and I am not saying that I am certain Winnipeg wouldn't do just that.

But having a log-jam at LD is a big issue for many teams in this league, we where there our selves not long ago -- like Ryan Graves didn't even get a single shift here at LD, but at all other positions we rotated real suspects -- but haven't had that issue in a while. Winnipeg may well like several of those LDs they have a lot. In that situation its not that fun to auction them off for a very slim return.

Would he? Honestly, I am not at all sold on that Drury could find a take for Trouba with zero retention today if no money where going back to us -- even if he was auctioned for free.

There are 12 teams that has the cap space to take him on, and there are a ton of free agents unsigned.
Kraken
NJD
DRW
CHI
NYI
Dallas
Ottawa
Winnipeg
Calgary
Buffalo
Arizona
Anaheim

Of those 12, Winnipeg, Dallas, NYI and NJD can be scratched of the list since their own free agents will eat up to much cap space. Ottawa, Arizona, CHI and Anaheim are aiming to spend as little as they are allowed to.

4 teams are left, Kraken, DRW, Calgary and Buffalo. Kraken? Who knows, but they have a very very unimpressive roster still, any not much cap space left which was supposed to be their big strength. What the heck did they do deciding to spend a ton on Burakovsky and Grubauer? RD aren't their weakest position. They have no leader up front. Calgary? They are done, in for a rebuild. Buffalo or DRW? Both are real candidates. But like Yzerman is a cheap f***. I do think he would trade for Trouba, probably get a little retention from Drury any not give up anything worth anything, but I do think he would bite. But you never know, they got Seidar already in a big role at RD and Hronek is one piece they have in place. They de facto like Gustav Lindström a lot. Buffalo? They obviously make the most sense.

But this is really my point, if you have a player that can be traded and there are 30, 20 or 15 potential locations -- something gets done. But if its 1 or 2 at max that even are theoretical options -- its a whole different game. You can't bank on it.

And remember, the summer of 23' will get worse. How much worse than this year? Its hard to evaluate, but really, there is no reason to not expect things to get a lot worse. 1m more in cap space, again. The system aren't built for a flat cap.

Everyone say that the cap will be flat for the summer of 24' too. Everyone. For two more years, not one more year after this upcoming season. I personally think that they will start to ease the cap upwards in 24'. That is speculation and 100% against what everyone is saying.

Go ahead and make the case….. I don’t see where we have taken a step back… Sometimes addition by subtraction(Strome, Georgiev, McCrap, etc)makes you better right and then we add VT,JH and maybe just maybe we have Kratsov playing
Vatrano Motte big losses

Its really one of the weirdest victory laps I've seen anyone take here.
It’s Ed’s new trolling shtick now that Kravtsov is back, so he’s gonna keep going after Kakko because he’s been slotted higher than Kravtsov in lineup projections while trying to make Kravtsov seem like a saint.

The simple solution is to just be happy that we have both and hope they’re on their way to hitting their respective ceilings. Both are key pieces for the Rangers future.

Chris Drury when the trade requests from Gauthier, Lundkvist, Kravtsov, Jones, and Hajek pour in onto his desk in December but teams are not offering their 1st round picks

Vince M NYD

“ One final note: All the information I've gathered points to the Rangers carrying 22 players, rather than the maximum 23, to start the season. That will enable them to accrue additional cap space in anticipation of the trade deadline while still keeping one reserve player at each position.”
