Well that is extremely disappointing, not that he is going to get traded, but the fact we are going to likely get well under his value because Drury didn’t recognize sooner that there was no spot for him on the team.
Who is he beating out? Our team is stacked with good young defensemen. We all knew either him or Jones would be traded. Is jones just not good either? Just because a 21-22 year old hasnt made the NHL yet because or some major competition in front of him, doesnt mean he is bad. There was no spot on the team because he wasn't good enough to be on the team. I'm also not sure why he would expect to be full time on the team at this point. He was pick 28. There have been three players in his draft class taken between 15 and 140 to even play 100 games so far. Alex Romanov, pick 38, is the only player taken between pick 24 and pick 45 to have even played a full NHL season.
Lot of shit holes in Eastern Conference in the AHL. Springfield, Scranton, Bridgeport.guys i think Hartford is just that shitty.
I see NHL teams change AHL affiliates every year yet the Rongos have been in Hartford for what 30 years? Maybe if our AHL team was somewhere nicer our prospects wouldn't be running back to Europe so quickly
They have no problem signing AHL veterans who know full well what each city has to offer. I don't think it's Hartford itself. We've also had European kids play down there without issue--Pajuniemi, Chytil, Reunanen, etc. Your Andersson, Kravtsov, and now Lundkvist types, it's all about having played top-level hockey in Europe and thinking you deserve a spot in the NHL because of it (I hesitate to lump Lundkvist in, because he's just blocked).guys i think Hartford is just that shitty.

Yup. Lots of places in the AHL, particularly in the East, are just as garbage as Hartford.Lot of shit holes in Eastern Conference in the AHL. Springfield, Scranton, Bridgeport.
I mean its a 2.5 hour drive or train ride that's pretty close!I'm not here to shit on Hartford, but would it be beneficial for the organization to have the AHL team closer to NY? Yes. It would be better for the players, and better for the organization as a whole.
Yeah I mean it's better than what Vancouver had going with Utica lol, but when you look at the situation Toronto has you have to be pretty jealous. The amount of possibilities for added interactions between the AHL and NHL team if they were in the same city (let alone the same building) would be huge. Players would have a larger circle, coaches would be able to watch prospects easier, callups would be easier (though 2,5h drive is not really an issue there).I mean its a 2.5 hour drive or train ride that's pretty close!
agreed but you would think some team would take a chance on a cost controlled young RHD. Drury needs to find a Hoglander type. Pain in the ass forward with some talent while guys like Othmann, Berard, Sykora and Cuylle marinate for a bit more..And imo jones is light years ahead of lundkvist
this. Like we did with Kravtsov. I am sure plenty of teams were offering up 4th round picks for him. Not taking 30 cents on the dollar. We have his rights for 2 more years...wait it out...only fair value...no rush
Nils requested a trade and is unlikely to report to camp as per Brooks.
And if the goal of is a trade, I know I'd be much more willing to trade for a player if I get to see him playing in preseason games than sitting at home after one (poor) season in North America. Even the threat of skipping training camp is damaging to his trade prospects.I understand the trade request. I don’t understand not coming to camp. He just watched Kravtsov stay home after a trade request and it yielded no benefits for him. Come to camp and play. You don’t know what may happen and he’s one injury to the right side away from playing regularly.
