And likely won't take much to acquire. And the commitment ends at seasons end.

And this is the most important part IMO. Unless we're impactfully changing the composition of the roster (big salary out / big salary in) there's no large cap space beyond this season and with the return of missing players - we don't really have roster spots for, bottom liners either. Getting help with contracts that don't go beyond this season is the most optimal option for this reason.

No argument here.
That being said, I could live with the trade of offense for defense given just how bad the depth scoring has been this season and with my assumption that Kakko isn’t going to be ready to provide anything until the playoffs.

I don’t think it can be said enough how much of a boost this team would get from basic bottom-6 upgrades to get guys like Brodzinski, Gauthier, Hunt, and McKegg out of the lineup. I like Hunt in a 4th line role, but don’t think he’s providing so much from a defensive/forechecking perspective that his lineup spot should be solidified.

These types of additions don’t necessarily need to cost Drury much either if we’re worried about cost.

Right.

Its a major upgrade going from Goat and McKegg to lets say for arguments sake, Jarnkrok & Namestnikov

Fan submitted proposals. Some of these are doozies, and some of the responses are just as non-sensical.

Rakell to the N.Y. Rangers for K’Andre Miller and 2022 second-round pick.
Who says no?: Rangers.

Rakell to the N.Y. Rangers for Vitali Kravtsov and 2022 second-round pick.
Who says no?: Ducks.

Rakell to N.Y. Rangers for a 2022 first-round pick.
Who says no?: Ducks. I’m going use the Tyler Toffoli trade in the reasoning here.

Rakell to N.Y. Rangers for Braden Schneider and a 2022 second-round pick.
Who says no?: Rangers. Probably. But this doesn’t feel far-fetched.

Are these people insane?

Ive said this many times before but not one of these sites, or writers know a damn thing about the rangers. They are either fans of other teams being forced to cover the rangers such as Larry Brooks, and others or they are just starting out and have no connections like Molly. You cant take anything they write or say seriously.

I don't see the fascination for Lehkonen . What does he do for us ? Do we win the Cup this season with him ? Can we afford him next season ? We have Breadman-Kreider-Blais-Othmann-Cuylee on the left side and don't forget we also have Laf playing his wrong wing at the moment . Can Lehkonen play the right side...if not I see him as useless for us now and long term . We need a RW on the 3rd line more than a Lehkonen . We already have Blais and Goodrow likely pegged as 3rd liners next season for us and likely plenty of in house guys that would suffice for the time being until we fix the 2 C spot . The Lehkonen's will always be around for obtaining in the future if we need the . Fix the 2C hole for next season before we send away a 1st round pick .

He can help fix our 3rd line. He can also move up the lineup if needed instead of having to put Reaves up. He can play both wings, and i kinda see him like getting a Jesper Fast type with more offense.

This isn’t even the worst fan proposal article at the Athletic today. The two articles about the fan proposals for Hertl and Patrick Kane are absolutely horrific.

Next Monday can’t come soon enough so teams can stop thinking they’re getting Kakko and a 1st for a rental.

Getting Kessel to replace Gauthier on the third line makes sense. Put Kakko back with Panarin when healthy.
I might be old school but I'd like our 3rd line to be able to matchup and be reliable.

IMO a major issue for some time now, is that our 3rd line can't be relied upon... ultimately giving 4th liners more ice time.

I'd be happy with a Carolina/Minnesota/TB of years past, type 3rd line. Not Chytil and Kessel.

In his defense, the Sharks writer was pretty fair though. Basically said maaaayyyybe the NYR would give up Nils and a 1st. It's the fans that are way off...sounds familiar haha.

The Hawks one takes the title for worst of the day across the board.

I don’t understand why Kakko cant get on the ice with a wrist injury that I would hope is almost healed up by now, but that is alarming.
have you ever fallen?

but who knows... if you can't hold a stick whats the point of skating?

If you can get Kessel for cheap, he's a fine add. At worst he's a bit of a play driver for the 3rd line and gives Chytil a legitimate offensive talent to play with. The worry is that it gives Gallant another veteran to ride down the stretch and I can easily see Kessel taking Laf's spot after one bad shift.

Domi is fine as well for the right price. My worry there is another Brendan Smith situation where he plays really well down the stretch, earns himself a new deal, and crashes back to earth. Mercifully our lack of cap flexibility might keep that from happening.

Schneider was the one he was saying maybe on. That guy is out to lunch. A 1st and a young dman for a rental, these people have lost their minds if they think that's happening.
