The pluses of Domi are that he has a bit of bite and he may inject some life into this team.

Downside? Hes like basically the exact opposite of what we should be adding for improved 5v5 play.

Domi and Kessel just seem unnecessary. The latter would just flat out be a lazy move.

I say we roll with what we have on the blue line this year and focus on forwards right now. I don't really want to give up assets for a part of the team where we already have assets. If we lose with what we have on D, then so be it.

That pulse is exactly what we need, too many of our players don't have much of a big personality and we have that "country club" thing going on. A lot of milquetoast guys who are introverted like Mika, Kreider, Trouba, Fox, Kakko. DeAngelo & Lemieux were two with big personalities and an edge. Domi is in a similar mold.

We have Reeves.

He's not a stout defensive player but he could definitely help improve the team's 5v5 play since we're even worse at generating offense than we are at defending.

Rangers are waiting on Hertl/Sharks to resolve itself. If he’s available he’s the guy. Figure out the contract in the summer when you can make moves
You may be right. Personally at what I expect the price for Hertl to be… I’m a hard pass.

So dramatic. Drury has been pretty measured and, dare I say, almost cautious so far.

Say what you will, the team has been winning with Drury's additions. And who know where'd we be with a winger like Blais healthy right now. He may not inspire confidence to you, but I'm not really worried that he's going to take this team in an absurd direction by any means.
Time will tell. Drury added Goodrow, Reaves, Blais and Nemeth. The Rangers are winning with Shesterkin playing like a Hart and Vezina Trophy finalist. That is a big reason why the team is winning.

Just because the Jets ask for that does not mean we or any other team would trade those pieces. I mean in the Mcd trade talks, WE which is everyone speculating was thinking that getting Sergechev, or cirelli, or whatever. Those were their top prospects. We certainly asked for them bc if you dont youre not doing youre due dillegence but the reality is that Eichel, McD, and so on went for alot less than their asking prices. Obviously there are mitigating factors that tie into each individual trades but lets be clear here. Asking prices and what players are actually traded for are two different things.

And Krebs is an ehh prospect, always hurt, had a chance but couldnt carve out a role in Vegas. Krebs is a 3rd line center right now. Listen im not saying he is a scrub by any means. But your not even talking Turcotte level with Krebs.

Still this isnt about Krebs, this is about what the reality of trades look like compared to these asking prices of teams wanting Kakko, Schnieder, Othmann. That doesnt mean we will trade them. You always ask for more bc you can move down from there. You dont start at what youre willing to accept. THe way it is with every business deal
Scheifele want is completely coming from Rangers fans side. Last I checked he doesn't want out and I don't think the Jets declared rebuilding like we were when we traded Mcd.
I am not gonna act like I have seen Krebs play night in night out but if he is a meh prospect Chytil and Kravy gotta be well below even that at this point.
Agreed we definitely should not be trading Kakko/Othmann and for sure Schneider but you bet that is what teams are asking for a guy like Scheifele. They are not asking for Chytil/Kravtsov and a first. That is all I am saying.

Does he not get Credit for below market extensions of Igor, Fox, Mika? Hits and misses like every GM
The Shesterkin contract is only 4 years. Zibanejad received 8 years. He didn't want to begin the season with contract uncertainty. If you go through the salary cap charts across The NHL on Capfriendly, how many teams had the space to give Zibanejad $8.5M? It's the same situation with Strome. How many teams have the room to pay him this summer? Hopefully, the Rangers find a better option than Strome but is he really getting the bag this summer in free agency? Fox was a very good deal.

He's basically Strome. I see a Domi acquisition as insurance to kick the can down the road on Strome...avoid having to give Strome a 6-7 year deal if they can't find another 2C in the summer.

In a vacuum, Fox is a good deal. I still was expecting a bigger bargain.

He wants to be a New York Ranger. I was expecting in the 8's.

Drury is a rookie GM. The Buchnevich trade. The Nemeth contract. His body of work so far doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
"body of work"... lol... a salary dump, and signing a 7th defenseman, who actually has contributed something for what he is...

The team has been winning because of Igor. If he isn't playing like a Hart/Vezina candidate we are in a dogfight with Columbus for that final playoff spot, instead of having a cushy 16 point lead. I'm not even sure how that is debatable.

Drury's additions, much like when Paul Holmgren traded Carter and Richards and said "I don't know if we will be a better team or worse team, but we will certainly be a different team", are of the same mold. They haven't made us better or worse, just different.

The Rangers fitting in Hertl's money will require Drury moving out big money. Kreider is having the best season of his NHL career. He has a NMC for another two seasons. Trouba has a NMC for another two seasons. Trouba bought a condo Chelsea last month. $6.7M.

Which team has the space to acquire those type of cap hits assuming Kreider or Trouba were willing to waive their NMC's? It would have to be a contender and all of those teams have cap issues and players they want to re-sign.

In December, Gary Bettman said it would be another two seasons of a flat cap. The NHLPA pays off their debt to the owners. Things get back to normal. Kreider's and Trouba's NMC's expire at the same time The NHL salary cap(hopefully)increases again. Omicron hurt the Canadian teams. I read The NHL and NHLPA hope to make up that revenue with betting apps.

The Rangers need to get through these next two seasons. The cap increases. Trouba and Kreider have limited NTC's and the Rangers have already paid off huge parts of both contracts. That won't be easy.

Drury will need to trade a draft pick(probably a 2nd)to move Nemeth's contact off their books because the Rangers need the space for players who will actually help the Rangers.

Haven’t seen much of him in years and was shocked when I checked out his stats and saw how few goals he scores now. I always envision him as a sniper lol
he might benefit from a change of scenery... look where he's playing. Hes won cups, and was a clutch goal scorer...
