Why would it no longer be an option? I'm tired of the excuses. Just f***ing play your top prospects. This is not rocket science.

Because Kaapo Kakko should have no interest in signing a contract with the New York Rangers. He’s going to go enjoy Liiga until we move him. I’m not even joking around. It’s what I expect after tonight.

Miller is an awesome talent but he is a high wire act. Trouba stinks and is a high wire act. You can't win with that combo.
yeah I agree. They are really a match made in hell when you look at both of their skillsets. Ideally they can dump Trouba but at the bare minimum they need to change the pairs next season.

I do wonder now if Dach for Kakko is a thing. Seems unlikely though since Chicago needs centers as much, if not more, then we do.

I think we should wait and see first. I know recent history with Quinn and JG and JD was bad in these scenarios, but we have a new coach and new front office. Time will tell.

Part of the issue w a kakko trade is if you're on the outside looking in what is it that attracts you to kakko to trade anything of value for him other than his draft position 3 years ago? Seriously, what changes his situation from someone like pulijuarvi last year? The fact his shot is such a muffin and he is unable to deke NHL goalies just means he's a garbage goal guy. He's val nischukin before nischukin s 2022 season. That's not a very attractive player...

So anyone that tried to defend the idea that kakko wouldn't want to sign an offer sheet this summer with another team might want to rethink that after he was scratched tonight. I think both parties may need a fresh start at this point. Kakko for dach and both teams move forward.
No

tbh for the first time, I'm completely content with moving one of Panarin, Kreider or Trouba.

Welcome aboard

If people hate Kakko, they will loathe Dach.

Some things I want and don't want to see:

Want to see:

Motte re-signed
Dryden Hunt in Hartford
A real 2C who can actually win face-offs
Laf or Fox be named Captain
A backup G who can relieve Igor and carry his fair share of the load without being a total sieve
Either have Robertson or Zac Jones be a regular next season.

Don't want to see:

Strome in a Rangers sweater
Nemeth in a Rangers sweater
Tinordi in a Rangers sweater
McKegg in a Rangers sweater
Georgiev in a Rangers sweater
Chytil at Center ever again
Braun-Schneider pairing

So me and @Raspewtin were talking. We kind of decided that realistically, we need to take Gallant's toys away and commit to an underwhelming third line or he's just going to move them up over the kids.

In order to compensate for that, trade for Chychrun and stack the defense. Include Jones. I would just play Jones, but again, we're tiptoeing around Gallant.

Kreider-Zib-Laf
Panarin-Chytil-Kakko
Blais-Stastny-Othmann/Cuylle/Kravtsov
Somebody-Goodrow-Hunt

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Chychrun-Schneider

I like Andrew Copp as a player. He was fantastic when he was acquired and against Pittsburgh, then kinda fell off a cliff. Was that due to injury?

The Rangers need the 2nd line center between Zibanejad and Chytil to be a defensively responsible, two way faceoff menace. I thought Copp could have been the answer, but his series' against Carolina and Tampa have me second guessing. Too often the Rangers squandered offensive zone time and got hemmed into their own end because of not being able to win a faceoff. I'd empty the cupboard for Ryan O'Reilly for this window. Problem is where does the money come from? I wouldn't move on from Kreider or Trouba just yet in spite of their warts.

Would Panarin waive to another team? Honestly, from a stylistic standpoint, he and Fox are redundant pieces. How many of Panarin's points were on the power play? Just give Lafreniere the ball and put him on the right wall on the first unit already.

Also just f***ing give Fox the captaincy.

The Rangers: "We're waiting for a captain to emerge."

Adam Fox: "I won a Norris at 22, have been a Rangers fan my entire life, refused to play anywhere else, and just had a phenomenal playoff run."

The Rangers: "No, not you. Someone like you."

Stop friendzoning Adam Fox.
Fox is quiet, not an outgoing charismatic kinda guy, doesn’t have an edge, idk. I think Laf is a born leader.
Or the chosen one, which is pretty obviously why we haven’t named a captain yet.

Sounds like you are trying to sabotage the team. All 4 of your Messier, Gilbert, Hadfield, and Ratelle lines look like poo and you didn't solve this team's biggest issue which is getting rid of Trouba.

I like Copp too but if the Rangers saw him as a center, he would have been there. They played a near crippled Ryan Strome and Kevin Rooney to avoid putting Copp at center.

I have no interest whatsoever in paying Copp to play wing for this team and putting another coach's toy in front of Laf and Kakko.

We traded you to Seattle to get Blackwell back. I forgot to tell you.

Just need to focus on making the right move for the 2c/3c spot. Strome should be gone obviously. Copp should get no more than what Danault got if he stays...maybe a bit less even.
I feel like the rest of the roster is in decent shape with the additions of Blais and Kravtsov (hopefully) will help a bit.
Vatrano and Motte will probably get raises so can't see them back albeit like some say Motte is a gamer even if he didn't put up points and would be a welcome bottom 6/pk guy on any team.

and that is a problem for sure. Zero point in resigning Copp if he can't play center 100 percent. Strome must have some serious mind control over his coaches. They love the guy. PP1 time, PK time, etc.
