It’s not going to happen, but Giroux on a sweetheart deal for a couple of seasons would do wonders for this team. Imagine slotting him in for Strome?

I don’t want him. Career loser and never was a scary player for Philly. Good at faceoffs but I’d still say hard pass. I’m pretty sure it was reported he said no to us at the deadline anyway.

i will happily eat crow if i'm wrong, but i don't like a Copp resigning. i just can't see that ending well with his injury history and poor skating as it is. we need speed down the middle, this guy can barely stand half the time.
another problem being that this team has enough dead cap space as it is, and it's a problem if we sign him and still have the same problems.

I completely agree but for different reasons. Is he worth a 5m-6m contract and is he a solid top 6 forward? Absolutely. Is he worth keeping around while being forced to bridge Lafreniere, Miller, Chytil, and Kakko because of it? Absolutely not. We need to lock up the kids on mid to long term deals. Shesterkin is going to cost an absolute fortune down the line as well. We should be thinking dynasty > short term success. Smart forward-thinking contracts are the way to go. There will be Copp-level players sitting at the deadline almost every season.

People seem to forget Copp’s hat trick and how great him and Panarin were before they both left that game with injuries. IDK who else we are getting for 2C.

A 4th line next year of Blais-Goodrow-Motte would be elite with reaves as the 13th forward.

Then comes the top 9 assume the following guys are back

Kreider-Mika
Panarin-Copp
Kakko-Chytil-Laf

Who are the other two we bring in? Kravtsov seems obviously but idk, just feels weird. Would it be crazy/would we have the cap room to try to get a 34 year old Giroux on a 2 year deal to center that 2nd line? Basically strome money but shorter term? In the flip side he may not even be the fit we need. We need guys willing to do the dirty work and get in on the forecheck and get pucks on those lines

Can’t afford to have Motte and Copp and bring in anyone new. The kid line isn’t a thing going forward. Kakko will be starting his second contract, Laf finishing his ELC and we don’t have the depth or luxury of continuing to play them in the bottom six. Laf and Kakko will once again be given opportunities in the top six. Kravtsov maybe over Kakko who has a third line game right now, if Kravtsov even comes back. One of Blais or, in the event of a surprise, Cuylle/Otthman can play on the third line.

Kreider - Z - Laf
Panarin - Copp - KK/Krav
Blais - Chytil - Krav/KK
Hunt - Goodrow - Motte

Is likely what we get unless one of the kids makes the team.

Hunt over Reaves? I agree that's what it should be. I just don't see it under this coach.

This Rangers team tied for 2nd in the franchise's 95 year history for wins in a season. The only team that had more wins was the 14-15 President's Trophy winning team. (Ironically, they are 3 wins away from facing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the ECF as they did in 14-15).

This is a good hockey team.

They should look to add a defensive oriented veteran center than can win faceoffs and matchup against opposing top lines. Re-steucture the 4th line as a matchup line.

Acquire a better veteran LHD to pair with Schneider on the 3rd pair. If the cap doesn't work, run Jones out there.

Keep Copp as our 2nd line center. Work Chytil on faceoffs all summer. Let him continue to grow in that 3rd line C spot.

They aren't far off.

Kreider has earned a demotion
He's gonna end up playing 3rd line eventually anyway and he'll still be on PP1
No matter the lines tho, it is a solid group

Pan zib krav
Laf chy kk
Krei cop Oth
Mot goody blais
Reaves
How has he earned a demotion? He has 6 goals and 8 points in 10 games after a 52 goal season. If you are basing a demotion on 10 games in these playoffs then Panarin would be one. That would obviously be silly though.

Thanks and im totally fine with this. Laf belongs in the top 6. His growth this year was so impressive. I really like that lineup.

Now comes the defense. We need a defensive minded defenseman for our bottom pair. Our top 2 pairs are very good, I view k’andre as being a step above marc staal and im so excited for his future.

I think itd be a good idea to add some snarl to pair with schneider. The ideal fit there who is cap friendly is brendan smith, who i know people around here think is like some awful dman but to have him as your 6th dman on a young team for $1,000,000 would be tremendous. Not gonna happen though as we didnt end on great terms.

What about Marc Staal though? 35 years old, bring him home on a 1 year deal for $1,000,000 to play in our bottom pair. Brings a veteran presence, no problem in locker room. Knows some of the guys already. Thoughts?

I think Marc Staal on a 1 year $1,000,000 contract to pair with schneider would be a great move. Have to imagine he could actually fetch a little more however, little discount for the nostalgic one final run at a cup with the team that drafted him that he spent a decade+ with

If you goal is to piss me off or possibly kill me, yes its a great move.

His next move should be retirement.

It falls on deaf ears.

Healthy enough to play, I'm not interested in hearing about the injury as the cause for shitty play.

It's a BS excuse
So you think that a player at say 70% is the same as that player completely healthy? Players often try to play through an injury in the playoffs and often times that player is nowhere near a 100% and it shows in his play. It's just reality and it happens all the time and it's not a BS excuse. You think McDonagh playing on a broken foot is the same as if he were healthy?

Brendan Smith is done with us. You can tell with his interviews. He would have no interest in coming back to the rangers after being waived on his bday. Im very very doubtful he would return.

Marc Staal is done. He couldnt play 3rd pairing here the past two seasons. He is cheeks now. Not someone we need at all. He cant move the puck out of the zone, yet alone move on the ice. He is slower and worse than Nemeth and Tinordi. Enough with Marc Staal.

Neither of these players are going to happen, We have Jones, Nils, Robertson who may all be competing for that spot. Id rather have Hajek out there than Staal.

Smith wanted to resign with us at the end of last season . I agree he isn’t coming back at this point . But it has nothing to do with us waiving him

We already have the perfect 3rd pair LD on our roster to play with Schneider. His name is Ryan Lindgren. Fox needs a better partner & Lindgren needs less miles on his already breaking down body.
