Yeah, at the same time, the opinion there was that Rees outperformed him in camp.

He isn’t a bad consolation price if they aren’t moving Drury.

I think Carolina would be very hesitant to move him to a rival and us in particular, but he is who I would ask for.
Don’t think Carolina is moving him. Trocheck is going to walk and they need him to help replace.

I don’t agree with this at all.

Hajek is probably worth a 5-7th rounder.

Gauthier a 3-5th. Remember he’s young, fast, and big. Some team may give him a shot in a top 9 role and value that. Yes, they may wait to see if we non-tender them, but a team like montreal has like 3 3rds and a bunch of picks, might value adding the body over a shot in the dark pick.

Georgiev may be able to get you a couple of mid-round picks.

Hajek as a 5th/6th - sure. It’s a lottery ticket.

Gauthier “3rd-5th” ? That’s a large gap. Absolutely not a 3rd. 5th/6th, sure.

Georgiev - I am expecting a 3rd and 6th, possibly a 2nd but that’s asking a lot.

Nemeth - I am expecting it will cost a 4th or 5th to kill him off. Not much.

I figured Kotkaniemi was replacing him after they gave him that ridiculous contract. Staal & Necas still around too.

I think and underreported thing about this offseason is that the Preds are up for sale. If this is approved quickly, I wonder how that impacts the hockey side. Bubble playoff team with a new owner could go either way.

I'd they cannot sign Forsberg, I wonder if they start looking at moving some of their older pieces out. If that is the case, Granlund could be a great trade target for that 2C role.

3 years left at 5M. Obviously more of a passer, but he can play center and wing. Fits the salary they are looking for. He's 30, but with 3 years left it isn't a crazy ask for him to be a middle 6 player for the 3 years. Would also be nice to have an older Finn around for Kakko, which is something they never did for him.

Just trying to think outside the box when we know the options that are getting kicked around.

The way I see it, Lafreniere earned the vacant top 6 wing spot. Kakko, Kravtsov, Othmann and Cuylle are in a fairly open competition for the other long term top 9 wing spots. All 4 will be on the 2022-23 team at different points imo
Don't see any chance Othmann is on the roster next season. There is a pecking order and he's at the bottom right now. Plus I don't see a single reason why we would be trying to rush him when we have the other players who need that ice time to develop.

He isn’t AHL eligible and just tore up the OHL. Is there much else to prove there? Maybe 60 goals this season? I can see Rangers carrying him for a month and seeing if he can cut it with the boys.

I love Granlund. Very underrated player who flies under the radar. Only problem with him is he isn't built for playoff hockey.

He’s a first round pick coming off a 50 goal season in the OHL. He’ll get a chance in preseason and possibly the 1st 9

The contract term and amount fit for the timeline, and we have seen the Rangers preference to have Centers that can also play Wing to shift the lineup around

He’s still 19 though, let him go back and work on other parts of his game, play in the WJC, get stronger and continue to get 20 minutes…instead of 12 minutes with no PP to stall his development. There is literally zero rush with him and we have other young, high potential kids who need that ice time and are more NHL ready than him.

Just dont see any way he is on the roster over players like KK, Laf, and Krav but of course if he somehow dominates at camp and preseason then we’ll see what happens.

Yea i’m sure he’s going to get the chance but he would legitimate have to crush it to get a chance in the NHL at this point IMO. We have so much young talent that needs to be playing before him. I think it’s MUCH more likely he is on the team in 23-24, and if not at least he can play in the AHL with callups.

He can’t play in the AHL next year. NHL or OHL for him. If the rangers think he can help them win, he’ll be here

I know he cant play in the AHL. So it’s OHL or 8-12 minutes in the NHL and hurting other guys development like Krav and KK who will lose ice. We’ll see, I think he’s a longshot.

As someone who's never seen him play, what's the scouting report on him? What's his skating like? Shot?
From what I’ve seen, he’s a great shooter.

Skating was the question mark with him a ways back, but he’s been working with a skating coach for a few years now and it’s better.

Go back to Junior and be Dryden Hunt every shift.

If he gets ice time in preseason and his play will make management decides if he stays here or not. he did get sone preseason games and although he did not do much, he did not hurt the team either. He will look better this time around. I am sure if he impresses, he will get some games early to see if he can stick. I doubt they will rush him. He has some skill and bite in his game. a more skilled Brandon Dubinsky type in my opinion.

I get a more skilled Brandon Dubinsky vibes from Othmann

I suggested Lundkvist for Drury a few days ago. Seems to make a ton of sense for both sides. Same draft, 14 picks apart.
I doubt the Rangers and Canes will be making trades with each other the next couple years. They look to be the two main contenders in the metro so will be competing every year to make the ECF out of the division. Even if a trade may make sense for both sides you don’t want to potentially help the other side more.

Would be nice if Othmann becomes our Jarvis or Mercer, i.e., 40 point scorer right out of the gate that just looks like he belongs. Afraid he’s not a good enough skater for that to happen though.
