The only reason Eichel isn't in New York right now is because of Buffalo's owner, not what Gorton/Drury were willing to give up at the time. Once it was made clear they weren't going to budge on Jack, Drury got something done with Mika's camp.

Was at the game tonight. I would not make any major trades for rentals to help this team. They have put together a good run and will make the playoffs, might even win a round, but they aren't going to win the cup. If Vegas goes crazy and wants to trade either Karlsson or Stephenson now, look into that. Spare part RFAs for another RFA or picks, ok. Maybe Roslovic or Texier, sure. Chychrun? Maybe. No rentals though. We just don't a have it yet.

Also, avoid Rakell like the plague.

Buffalo absolutely would have traded him here if either of those players were on the table, but they knew that by requiring a player that the Rangers were absolutely not trading as part of the package was a de facto refusal to trade him here.

It's extremely unlikely that we re-sign him. If he's willing to sign for 1 mil per, sure, but he's making 2.6 mil this year. He's not going to take a significant pay cut on that and we can't afford him at that price.

I would consider the trade deadline a huge success if we can trade Nemeth for an upgrade and not give up the farm. Nemeth always seems to be on the ice for the best scoring chances for the other team. Its unreal

I'm really interested to see what Drury does tomorrow, or tonight I guess. This team really isn't all that good, but then again the Rangers won't ever have this much cap room and as many trade pieces after this season anytime soon you would assume. Factor in Igor and it's a precarious spot to be in as a GM. I think we will see an addition, but just how large will it be.

Why? Won't we have about 11 million to sign him, a 2c, Kakko, and a backup goalie.
