I honestly think we're done 'big fish' hunting.

All adds will be like what we've seen this deadline, unless a team is willing to eat 50% for a long term contract.

A prospect 'hockey trade' is also a possibility

I like what you said earlier about a young center on an ELC. Definitely think that’s a possibility too

That’s fair. Didn’t hear about the Barzal rumor though. I think Detroit isn’t as far along as some thing. Seider is a beast but they don’t play a lick of D or have a goalie. Larkin has a lot of links to the Rangers so I’m just connecting dots

Detroit will not trade us Larkin unless they learn he won’t resign when that contract ends.

They have solutions to their problems in the pipeline. Simon Edvinsson is a top 5 prospect in hockey. William Wallinder looks like he could be excellent as well. Sebastian Cossa is the future starting goalie and he’s a monster. That team will be rolling in a few years if they can be strong down the middle.

Brooksie seems to think that Drury will look outside the org to fill the 2C spot. I don't see how it's feasible. He brings up the usual suspects + ROR.

I think it's going to be Copp + Chytil + Prospect swap

Copp is going to push $5M. Danault contract
Danault produced similarly to Copp except he’s elite defensively. Copp is just good defensively. Not to forget that Danault is a full time C. Copp is ideally a top 6 winger/3C.

I’ve seen 4.5 x 6 tossed around for Copp and that’s pretty in line with what I think he gets

Danault benefitted from a cup run/audition.

Copp has his audition and as of right now, he's sitting at high 4's IMO.

Yeah, a lot will depend on how both Copp and Strome perform in the playoffs IMO.

They will be looked at closely. Not sure if there's been an update on Strome but if he misses any time Copp will likely get a look in the middle with Panarin and that could be a mini-try out for him as well.

But I think the playoff performances of each will go a long way in determining if the Rangers want to hold onto either of them and for what price

Read on the Jets boards he turned down 4m x 5 years from Winnipeg.

Maybe with everything going on, he wants to play in the states kinda what Trouba did although he had his family to consider which is always a consideration when trading and signing or resigning players

Prospects are prospects until proven otherwise, have we not learned this the hard way?. Lets see any of those guys play a single game before we anoint them. Does Larkin want to stick around waiting for Detroit to become a contender or go try to win a Cup with his college buddies before he hits the open market? We'll see in the summer.

I think it's very likely that is going to happen. Drury thankfully didn't do anything stupid at the deadline and we still have lots of trade chips to look for a young center. ROR, Miller? No way.

I saw rumors from Winnipeg saying he may go back home to Michigan as a UFA, but id have to think NY is just as good an option with his relationship to Trouba and being significantly further along than Detroit

Jeff Marek said weeks prior to the deadline that Copp would be a Yzerman target this summer.

Trouba meets him their once his NTC expires.

I agree he will come in under Danault. I think his agent will use that as the comparison is all. Rangers work it down from there. I think 4.5x6 would be pretty fair

You can't ignore Andrew Copp's linkage to Michigan.

He was born in Ann Arbor and played hockey through college all in Michigan, and was also a teammate of Dylan Larkin. If the Rangers wanted a shot at Copp, they needed to (and did) trade for him and show him that NYC can be a fit for him.

I'd prefer to overpay for a high end prospect, but yes.

Nils + 1st + something else.

If the Rangers do trade Lindgren, they are doing it to clear cap space to pay their other guys. Defensemen are valuable in the trade market. Lindgren will have another year remaining on his contract at $3M and will have another season of group II before he reaches group III. The Rangers will replace Lindgren with a player on an ELC making $800,000 and that would be Robertson or unless the Rangers swap Lundkvist for a similar LHD. The cap for next season is easier to figure out than the cap for 23-24. The nearly $3.4M in buyout money will go away in 23-24. Any Lindgren trade will be in 23-24. The cap should increase again to $83.5M.

It looks like Lafreniere has figured it out and he is more comfortable on the left side. He could hit his performance bonuses next season and the Rangers will most likely not have the room in the 22-23 cap for those bonuses. Some of the 23-24 cap could be used to pay the bonus money. Playing left wing is more natural for Lafreniere.

Lafreniere discussed why he’s so much more comfortable on the left wing than the right after he extended his point streak to five games.

“I feel like it’s just coming back in your zone,” said Lafreniere, who scored his 14th of the season and could reach 20 with a burst over the final 17 games. “It’s just more natural for me. You’re always a little late when you’re not used to it. I like playing with Mika and Kreids. I liked today playing with Fil (Chytil) and Goody (Barclay Goodrow). Whoever it is, I just want to bring my best game.”

Kreider-Zibanejad
Panarin-Kakko
Lafreniere-Chytil

KAM will have no leverage. The Rangers could force him to play at his QO number. That guy is getting better and better. That will be hard to do. If the cap is flat for just two more seasons, the Rangers can go one season with Miller and give him a bigger deal after 23-24 when the cap increases by more than $1M and the Rangers could move out some money with Kreider and/or Trouba when both of the NMC's become limited NTC's to 15 teams. A 15 team no trade list. We know seven of them will be the Canadian teams.

It would be nice to get Kakko signed to an affordable two year bridge. If Kakko figures it out next season and he is a group II again w/arb rights next summer, it will be difficult with Lafreniere also a group II.

The Rangers can hardball Jones for his 2nd contract. I like Jones. Maybe he grow into a Torey Krug type of D man. The Rangers will need his contract for their cap next season. If the Rangers plan on trading Lindgren for more space, Robertson needs to play next season at some point in NY. His $797,500 through 23-24 is valuable. Lindgren played the majority of his first professional season in the AHL. Lindgren played 5 games in NY that year. He played 60 games in NY in his 2nd pro season. Nine games in the AHL.

Chytil's contract is up after 22-23. If Lafreniere and Chytil continue to have success playing well together, the Rangers need to sign Chytil.

Many people said Trouba was headed to the Red Wings as a free agent when he was with Winnipeg.
And that Zach Werenski would take a 1 year with CBJ to become a FA and join his buddy Larkin up there as well
