It is. He's a fine player but not worth that much for 20 games of him.
I'll disagree here. Copp is a solid middle 6 guy, will hopefully push one of hunt or goodrow down to the fourth, is really solid defensively and would even be worth giving him a shot with panarin and moving strome down to the third.

2 2nd round picks is probably solid value.

I’d keep him.

Allocate Stromes money to him and trade for an player to play above him. Who or what that is? I haven’t the slightest f***ing Clue but he’s got a ton of things in his tool kit that we lack and frankly, need.

When guys like Viktor Arvidsson and Buch are acquired for less, that's not solid value. If he had multiple years left on his contract it might be more palatable but I'm just not interested in giving up that much value for a middle-six forward.

Who could we trade for tomorrow that would imply the death of Strome if we have intentions to resign this acquired player?
Not sure that player exists outside of Copp. But in terms of players with term that are plausible, although unlikely it's Gourde, Larkin, Miller, Scheifele.

It’s a long shot, and I typically prefer to keep things realistic, but I imagine a Larkin package with several assets including Lundkvist off to Detroit.

Wish I could like this twice. Would love to swap Strome for Copp moving forward.

Eh I don’t think you can really compare trades that way. Rental prices are always going to be a different thing than off-season trades that are made with cap considerations being the driving force for moving the player. Rental markets at deadlines are like their own little bubble.

Copp really isn’t better than Strome. Jets fans are ready to dump Copp and he’s more of a LW than C at this point. He’d be an upgrade at 3C. Not worth 2 2nds though imo

Wouldn’t be opposed to Chytil+4th or 2nd+Hajek for him but that’s really it

Acquiring Copp and then re-signing him would be an interesting move. In the offseason can structure the team so that all holes are filled except 1 forward spot where Strome could fit in, but if all signings are in then we can leverage his want to stay with the Rangers against him. Can tell him to just look at the cap, we have an exact amount left, that is all we can offer. Player's don't buy that stance if there is still a bunch of money floating out there to re-sign RFAs and other stuff.

It’s laughable that some here are worried about trading 2 second round picks for a guy like Copp who can really help. The Rangers haven’t made a useful 2nd round pick in a decade and the people who don’t want to trade them will be the first to bring it up

I don't care about 2nd round picks, I'd prefer to use them in a deal for someone who will be here past this season though.

Can't draft a goalie in the 2nd round if you don't have any picks in the 2nd round.

Copp is not worth one 2nd round pick let alone 2.

You can say Vatrano is just as good as Copp and we got him for a 4th.

Well in this Market he is look at the returns

Heck Nemeth may have value

Leddy and Greiss for Nemeth and a 2nd
Georgiev for a 3rd

Wedgewood got a 4th

I also think Seravalli has shown he is more than willing to be an advertising mouthpiece for orgs willing to feed him information. Winnipeg has done that posturing crap through the media before. Canucks were doing it a ton. Montreal did it with him.

I don't buy that a team has a tabled offer ready to accept of 2 2nds for Copp. It has probably been discussed, but this reeks of Winnipeg and their craphole front office trying to do anything they can to try to get a 1st out of someone.
