In all honesty, using Lafreniere to acquire a top center is one of the only ways we are gonna be able to make that deal happen. He's really not a great fit with the way the roster is constructed, doesn't really look comfortable at RW. Kreider and Panarin are clearly ahead of him for the next 2 years. He's not gonna get top PP unit time and he's been underwhelming on top of it. It makes sense if he is available as much as you might not want to hear it.

it's not about patience it's about our shit roster construction. Gorton did very little in drafts to address Center. It's unfortunately the hardest position to fill and most expensive to acquire.

If we could get a Laffy/Kakko equivalent at Center, it'd have to be considered. It's just rare those players are available.

Been hoping we would draft as many centers when possible as well! So yes if it is similar age/good contract status/ abilities of a Kakko or Laf then definitely worth exploring but i'm not trading a 20 year old kid who still has a high ceiling for a 33/34 year old player.

Gotta give the Bruins credit they aren't sitting on their hands with all of their top players pretty much in their mid 30's. That Atlantic division is like the AFC west in football. Each team trying to make a bigger splash than the next.
