The patience many of us preached a few years ago is slowly going bye bye :(
it's not about patience it's about our shit roster construction. Gorton did very little in drafts to address Center. It's unfortunately the hardest position to fill and most expensive to acquire.

If we could get a Laffy/Kakko equivalent at Center, it'd have to be considered. It's just rare those players are available.

I have to believe it’s BS but the Rangers being gifted Lafreniere by the hockey gods and then trading him cause they’re too impatient to stick it out with him may make me quit watching this team for a bit
There's a very small list of players they could trade Lafreniere for that would not make me quit watching the Rangers. And I don't say that lightly...I mean I've been pretty hardcore / posting here for 16 years.

That said it's complete BS. How would these guys scoop this? It's laughable. Clickbait.

Me the next time I'm at MSG if Drury does trade Lafreniere

What did i just read???

The Rangers will still have the cap issue with whoever they acquire for Lafrenière. The Rangers want a young, signed center who is controllable.

Miller will be a group II with no arbitration rights. He won't have any leverage. Bridge contract. Zac Jones is in the same boat. The Rangers will need his ELC next season.

Lafrenière is not getting a big 2nd contract unless he explodes next season. Kakko isn't getting a big 2nd contract this summer.

Definitely. If the Rangers get a top flight #1 center who is young and will be here for a while. Where do we find those?

Praying the Rangers have just as much common sense

They're not trading Lafreniere. They probably asked about some young elite guy, the other team said it'd take Lafreniere, and Drury said we'd only trade him for the player he's going to be in 3 years on a sweetheart deal. Then someone in the other org threw that out to Pagnotta to run with.

Not sure I’d take it that far. Only draft someone may give Gorton shit for is 2018.

2017 they took 2 centers, one busted and Chytil is an NHL player, 2019 and 2020 they took the obvious BPAs in Kakko and Laf

2018 was a mess outside of Miller and Lundkvist

Who do you trade Laf for? Maybe if McDavid demands a trade? Even then, we'd have to figure out how to move a shitload of salary.

Shane Wright or Cooley for Montreal's/Quebecs golden boy?

Would you do Cooley for Laffy? If you're MTL? If you're NYR?

Larkin I would consider. Age and position fit perfectly, but his contract will be a problem. So it might have to be player with ELC.
