Domi isn't near the top of my list either but I did watch the Metro recap from Seravalli's pod earlier and he mentioned that Domi was actually producing at a decent rate this year and people were overlooking it. Turns out he's right. His A/60 is a little above the rate that he scored at in his big season with Montreal. His G/60 is about 40% lower but 2.3P/60 isn't anything to sneeze at. We could do worse.

He's on my list of guys I'd circle back to at 2PM on Monday if he still hasn't been moved and other buyers have already filled out their lists. Try to get him on the cheap.

I doubt he will be so cheap. I would make the move as soon as possible. I prefer him over Lehkonen. With his dad being a fan favorite here, I wonder if he would resign here if he was to do well. having him to replace Strome would not be so bad and most likely cheaper as an UFA.

Our team is basically a pretender with a great goalie . Time is our biggest need . We likely don't see round 2 until Laf-KK-Chytil-Miller-Schneider take the next step to a higher level . Panarin and Mika will never carry this club without those guys bringing an all around game to the ice . It's just something that can take time....trading good futures away to win a series this year is a mistake . 4th rounders for depth forwards is the right way to go or actual hockey trades . I don't see Drury doing much to hurt our talent pool today or in the future . They might even give Chytil another half season /extended look . Replacing Strome will be his biggest off season task unless he figures Chytil can actually handle it ? He has the tools....but does he have the toolbox ?

Ive been fairly impressed with chytil since he's come back. I think the trade we just made was specifically to give drury a better chance to evaluate chytil a littler better. It moved hunt down while while still too high for him, is a much better fit and gives chytil at least someone who can do something with the puck, and when kakko comes back it'll help even more by moving vatrano down as well.

I watched Domi the other night against OTT. He was awful. A passive passenger in the game doing fly by’s with minimal contact and engagement. He was less physical than Strome. We really dont need that.

LA wants to add. They’ve been linked to Boeser. They wanted to bring Toffoli back.

Could they be a match for Lehkonen? Alex Turcotte played with Caufield at Wisco. Gorton would know Turcotte from the Miller scouting. Habs scouts would know him from the Caufield scouting. Marc Bergivan is consulting with LA.

Connections galore

This. I can't like this post enough. Going for the big fish this season trade wise would be a big mistake and it'd be very short-sighted. They aren't deep enough to make a long run and no trade will help them get there without gutting their prospect pool and draft picks. Without Shesterkin, this team is out of the playoff chase, or maybe just barely hanging on in the race and the front office would be looking to sell. Depth scoring isn't there; they need Lafreniere, Kakko, Chytil to take the next steps to become impact players. Still need a couple more pieces, we all know what they are; best to go after those this offseason.

Getting to the playoffs is great (just don't get embarrassed in the first round Lol), winning a series would be better; beyond that would be a bonus.

Lehkonen also proven chemistry with Danault

Ya, it really would. Not sure. Why weren't FLA and COL interested in Miller? The reporting on that has always been for Giroux. If Vancouver retains for Miller, I know that's a tough ask for an aspiring team like VAN but for this year and the next when they're unlikely to win, they can have the farm from COL or FLA. I don't know. I know there's immense internal pressure to win after the players are unhappy, owner disgruntled, and fans now feeling it under Boudreau.

Tob you’re all grown up now.

If Rakell is a 1st and a prospect, I'm out on that. Just a 1st? It's more palatable.

Giordano is also going for a 1st, so it'd be one or the other in that scenario.

Honestly would rather just get Domi. Talent and grit. I think he'd do well with Gallant.

Don't need the bells and whistles this trade deadline. Focus on making the playoffs an experience for the kids and not a demolition.

Reassess around the draft and see who is available.

Both Staple and Larry tonight are saying Rakell and Giordano are the top choices for Drury, so someone in the front office sent out a text with that info to them lmao
If Rakell is really on their radar, does this signify that the Kakko injury is worse than reported? Otherwise, are you shoving Vatrano and Rakell on the 3rd line? A first for a 3rd line rental on a team not going all in is highly odd. I don't get the thinking.

I would not give up a 1st for either of those players

Well both of them inferred Lafreniere would move down to the 3rd line in that situation, apparently they don’t think he’s been playing well.

But Vatrano isn’t a top 6 player, it’s fine if he’s on the third line

Domi over Rakell. More grit for the playoffs, more of a hard nosed player. Rakell is too much of a streaky player. He will leave you wanting more. Not a fan. I prefer Silvervberg if he was healthy and was UFA in a year or less. I want Domi. he is a lesser skilled Brad Marchand.

Considering this team struggles mightily at ES, they could say none of them have been playing great. I just don't think they really know anything. The playoff experience for Laf and Kakko will be extremely invaluable. For me, this is still about investing in the future. In this case, not asset investment but experience investment. People assuming that Igor, Panarin, Fox, Zib, and Kreider are enough to be a legit outside chance at winning are putting too much faith in a lottery ticket. Nothing bad in taking the chance, but you still have to do the grind until the ticket luckily pays off.

I keep reading Domi plays with grit. Lol what? Have any of you actually watched him?

Winnipeg is a mess. Just not a playoff team. Go get Copp.

Really not interested in either Rackell or Domi. But Rackell is the better more proven player.

Everything comes down to price.

However, would not be surprised one bit if we end up with Kane. Not saying I am advocating it. But Kane with money retained, wouldnt be surprised.
