Rangers trade Chytil and Hajek to Bruins for DeBrusk and Frederic??? Close in value????
Why do the Rangers want either of those players?

Huska called to the taxi squad
I'm not saying he is perfect, but that is the tier of guy we are probably going to need to look at. Everyone in that price range is going to have warts.
This guy, I tell ya, he gets it.
Would we do Kravtsov, a first, Nils (right D) and Robertson (left D) for Chychrun? Makes the farm look much emptier, but add a very good D.
Honestly not a fan of that middle6 C. Do not like Domi as a fit. Hayton is an unknown. That has the potential to make us really weak and bad down the middle. Still see Strome getting re-signed.So I ran this on capfriendly to give everyone an idea of what I'm talking about:
Trades:
Chytil + Kravtsov + Nemeth + NYR 1st
for
Chychrun + Hayton
Georgiev
for
EDM 2nd '23 + 5th '22 + Koskinen
Off-season signings:
Kaako - 2 years @ $3m
Blais - 3 years @ $1.65m
Gauthier - 1 year @ $900k
Hajek - 1 year @ $950k
Domi - 2 years @ $3.5m
Hayton - 1 year @ $1.15m
Tinordi waived
Kreider-Zibanejad-Panarin
Lafreniere-Domi-Kaako
Goodrow-Hayton-Blais
Hunt-Barron-Reaves
Gauthier
Chychrun-Trouba
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Schneider
Hajek
Shesty

This lineup gives us about $800k in cap space with a cap @ $82.5m (increase of $1m from this season)
I think this could work if they shave some money off somewhere or carry only 1 spare to bring in a decent backup but it's tight even at $3.5m for Domi (or any other 2C).
We just need to understand that if they add Chychrun, barring a trade of a higher salary core piece (Trouba or Kreider), that 2C slot is going to need to be someone with some warts more than likely or they are going to have to pay through the nose to bring in someone either underpaid or on a ELC which will not be cheap.
Agreed on Miller. Have to think if he was on the table it would be close to a no-brainer for Arizona. Id guess the situation is now 1. How do we bridge the gap between Lundkvist & KAM value wise and 2. Is another team willing to beat the Rangers offer.
It would be a big mistake for Florida to trade Lundell, but the Yotes need to pounce if they offer him imo

Or just play Barron....wartless, costs nothing

Kakko got too much, he hasn't done anything more than Chytil, I'd expect him to get Chytils bridge.
I'd love our defensive group if we added Chychrun though.
Cut out Domi, Hajek and Gauthier signings and now you have their additionally 5.35 for a center, less the cost of a 7th guy who could just come from in house.
Chychrun may not fit the NYR needs perfectly but he is a really good player on a very good contract. That is the kicker that makes me support giving up a chunk of the cupboard for him. I'm skeptical the NYR will end up the high bidders but they absolutely could get it done.
I'd rather deal a little more for a player who will be here for a long time then see the NYR chase the pure rental market with 75% of the cost of what they would have paid for Chychrun.
Definitely not trustworthy though, he said the same thing about Eichel lol
And that 4.25m 2C is likely hometown discount Ryan Strome at that point. You would still need a backup goalie.
So with $800k in cap space, we remove Domi, that's now $4.3m in cap space.
Add in a backup goalie, say $1m, now we are at $3.3m in cap space.
remove Hajek and Guathier which adds $1.85m more so that's $5.15m
Now add in even a modest 7th d-man @ $0.9m and we are at $4.25m in cap space
So the 2c would need to come in at $4.25m per season or less and that would mean literally no cap space to start the season.
It is but if you’ve got a solution that works with the cap and doesn’t involve jettisoning a better player than Strome to make room I’ve yet to see a convincing one. It's going to be interesting when we aren't going to find someone as good as Ryan Strome to replace the player who everyone hates, Ryan Strome.
