With a new contract coming up (and Othmann/Cuylle/Berard lighting it up doesnt hurt) we may need to face this possibility sooner rather than later.

We aren’t trading Kakko.

Kreider and/or Trouba will eventually be gone though.

Trading your 2OA kid who has shown flashes of dominance for another teams d-man with one huge year so far seems like a ridiculous risk to take

Its silly, but, the impatient fan base knows no logic. Unfortunately Drury doesn’t seem to get it either.

Chychrun is better than many people here think. He’s absolutely a top pair D and would give this team a top 4 D that could rival anyone in the league.

Pair him with Trouba, who by the way is having an unbelievable season

Trouba has been fantastic. Gallant has unlocked a next level of physicality out of him. He is on pace to shatter his previous hit totals, and he has had a number of high quality “level the opponent” style hits that provide momentum boosts.

Kakko can’t be involved unless Chychrun is a distant second piece of the return. Chytil or Lundkvist shouldn’t be involved either unless there is a significant add to Chychrun.

I’m sticking with Kravtsov, Gauthier and a 1st. I’d swap Kravtsov with Chytil or Lundkvist if Hayton is added and they take back Nemeth.

Can't get over how dumb Arizona would be to trade a 23 year old stud defensemen. So insanely hard to come by. They could build around this guy.
It doesn't make a damn bit of sense to me but what the hell, if he is available, I'm buying. My guess is that there friction between the Coyotes and Chychrun's father, a former NHL defenseman.

Pierre Engvall is always impressive when he plays against us....or does it just seem like that ? He had 5 shots the last game . He has had a good week all around for the Leafs . The guy is big , young and sneaky fast and cheap and heading into RFA . He is listed as a C/LW . I think he would be a big upgrade over Chytil . What do the Leafs need ....a Nemeth ? A big question is could he also play his off wing and be productive ?

Good write up here on him of late...impressive 5on5 stuff from him . Pierre Engvall’s dominant season with the Leafs, and how he’s doing it
Engvall and Mikheyev are two really good support forwards on Toronto, and I think either would be a great addition for us

Poor Mollie, I feel bad she’s got to put up with Duguay and Brooks on this podcast

Duguay says some pretty inappropriate stuff about her, like he's DEFINITELY trying to get some. Mollie seems pretty cool about it though, she can roll with the punches pretty well.

He's very good defensively and he's been doing it on a bad team. He would improve the back end for many years to come.

If he's paired with Trouba on the 2nd pair and the cost isn't outlandish I wouldn't be against it. I'm just not sure that it's the Rangers most pressing need. It'll be interesting to see what Drury does in the coming weeks.

I’d pretty easily move Chytil or Lundkvist but Kakko is an absolute non starter for me. Not even close to something I’d consider

How's he looked for the Rags this season?

Serviceable bottom pair guy? #7 on a playoff team?
No way would I want this guy as a seventh defenseman on a playoff team. That puts your team one injury on defense away from having to play him in the playoffs.

I wouldn't want him as a seventh defeseman on a non-playoff team either if I had my way. He's been worse than Nemeth, who should honestly be a seventh defenseman on the Rangers this year given how poorly he's played thus far.

I could see a team looking to keep him around as a #7 while having other options in the AHL who may be their true #7's if that makes sense. He's probably ideally a #8 on a true depth chart

Yea thats about what I expected. In his short stint in Boston he was one of the few guys who would engage in the post whistle shenanigans but thats all I really remember about him. AFAIR he didn't play much and thats probably why we never really got to see him exposed for what he was.

2.) How the hell do you think he looked as a 7th D if he's getting waived by a playoff team?

Teams waive "serviceable" players frequently when they have a move in place to bring in a replacement that puts him further down the depth chart. A player being waived doesn't mean they aren't NHL caliber.
