Gallant tried Reaves at RW on that top line. They actually created a bit of pressure. Are we to assume that a long term trial with Lafreniere would work worse than that? Give the kid minutes and create a viable 3rd line with a specific role.

We’re better than last year because last year our 3rd and 4th lines were a jumbled mess with no clear roles. Now they have a 4th line and at least one 3rd liner in Goodrow who fills a role. I keep harping on this but they need to find 2 more guys on that line.

I'm with you, but they made that decision. Specifically, James Dolan made that decision last May. They extended Mika and are talking about extending Strome or giving up assets and potentially an UFA extension to Hertl who has had multiple knee surgeries.

I disagree with a lot of what seems to be looming and it may end up being too much to bear. But you can thank Jimmy boy for that.

I think it will be ok. Strome hasn't been extended yet. I still think he strikes out this summer on length and him and the Rangers go short term like 2-3 years for like $5.6 million.

Othmann/Berrard/Cullye are still around. Garrand.

Look at Washington and the team that won the Cup vs. earlier incarnations.

They might make some win now moves but unless they trade all the young players and prospects which is impossible in the hard cap era, they'll have a chance at a retool.

Panarin and Trouba are only here four more years. If Panarin is basically Rick Nash 2.0 in the playoffs which I get the vibe he will be, they can walk away from him or at worst trade/buy him out after year three at which point the prospects will be in their prime.

If none of Laf/Kaako/Berrard/Othmann/Cullye and perhaps random late round Euro-NCAA prospect progress to anything more than the typical 20G-20A homegrown Ranger we're accustomed to, Ortmeyer and Lilles are done.

Kreider is absolutely playing his best hockey right now, but most of his points have been on the PP, and no one is advocating changing that.
The point is that we want to see if by loading KK/laf on the top 6 with strome (who both kk and laf have had their best metrics with), you start getting the kids going. If we get a big jump from both kids, at the cost of kreiders 5v5 production (which while at a career high, isn't that insane), we're now looking an overloaded line 1, and a line 2 that remains a top 5 in the league. And if Kreider manages to maintain that 5v5 production and boosts that 3rd line, well thats just gravy.

you'd have to find a way to dump Trouba in the offseason, which would be worth it. So yeah I'd definitely make that trade.

Panarin in his career is basically a PPG player. He's played on the playoffs almost every year of his career before he came to the rangers. He's not rick nash disappearing in the playoffs.

But the Coyotes board talk about Chychrun is very reminiscent of our board when we were trading McDonagh. Lots of talk about completely unrealistic things. Things like Byfield, McTavish, etc. They seem dead set on Schneider + Othmann + 1st and maybe even more for Chych, which is a zero chance of happening

Watching the last few games has convinced me that Schneider is here to stay. Like in 10 years stay. The conversation is complete and Lundqvist is officially on the trade block.

While I didn't think Lundqvist was playing poorly at all (and he was definitely on an upswing) that position belongs to Schneider and will for a long time. Unless one of them converts to the left side, one will be moving. Schneider is not going anywhere.

No. This is the Rangers. Once you get here, all hockey savy is lost. No Laf on line 1. No Kakko on line 2. Play hunt as much as possible.

A best-of-7 series more often than not goes to the better team. There's a reason the highest ranked team wins the Cup more than any other. It's not impossible but especially in the salary cap era, teams don't go from missing the play offs to winning a cup without having some play off runs in between.

If they can grab home ice advantage for round one they have a shot of winning a round with a hot Shesty . They would likely have to beat out Caps or Penguins . That is not an impossible task .

A cychrun deal really only makes any sense if we send Miller the other way, but if we do that we’d really have to win a cup before that contract is up because that’s an absurdly expensive D corps.

Imo we need more help at forward. We need Kakko and Laf to come alive a bit and losing Blais hurt us. We need a volume shooter 3C ideally
